How do I use my donor advised fund to sponsor a child? Just include the child sponsorship number on the grant?

Hi Shorel! You most certainly can use your donor-advised fund to sponsor a child. You will need to provide the following with your donation: Supporter number, Supporter name, Supporter address, and the fund designation. To sponsor a child, the fund designation will be DS (Designated Support), and you will need to provide the child's number. Please let us know if you have further questions :).

Hi Christina, I would like to use my donor-advised fund too. A few questions:
- Is the supporter number the same as the sponsor number?
- The donation needs to be initiated from the donor advised fund (providing the info you mentioned) and not from Compassion International?
- Is it possible to make recurring donations from the donor-advised fund?
- On my donor advised fund, the only place I can add additional info is on a online field "Note for the receiving charity". I could add the Supporter number, Supporter name, Supporter address, fund designation and the child's number. Would that work?
- I have 3 kids and each one of them will sponsor a different child. Should I have 3 different recurring donations, or only one donation with the information of the 3 sponsored kids? Does it matter?
Thank you,
Cassio

Hi Cassio!
We are happy to answer your questions! :) First of all, yes your supporter number and sponsor number are the same thing. You will need to set your donations up through your fund side, rather than through Compassion. Also, these will need to be 3 separate donations which you may indicate on this line as you mentioned. As far as making your donations reoccurring, you may need to ask your advisor if they can set this up for you since Compassion will not be able to do it from this end.
I hope this is helpful! Please let us know if you have any additional questions!

Hi Shannon,

One last question. How do I get the sponsor number? Do I need to do a full application and then Compass would assign me a sponsor number?

Thanks you,

Cassio

Hi Cassio! Are you currently sponsoring a child? I couldn't find an account with your email or name. If you're not sponsoring a child yet, then you will need to do so by choosing a child and filling out all of the information :). If you sponsor a child online, then you will have to provide the child's 1st month of sponsorship right away via card or bank account. Then, you may give your monthly sponsorship through your donor advised fund. Once you are sponsoring a child, you will be given a sponsor number :).

My wife set it up under her name. What's the charity tax id I need to use to sponsor a child? I found 3 different ones. Thank you!

Hi Susan, my fund only allows me to donate amounts higher than $50. Would it be ok to donate every 2 months? Other options would be every quarter, every semester or annually. Let me know what works best. Thank you

Just wanted to confirm that the option of donating to multiple kids at once, doesn't work.
Thanks!
