I'm sponsor #3775278-3. Wondering about Melat, my 18 year old sponsored girl in Ethiopia. In the introductory letter I received from her last Sept., Melat said she was expecting the results of her 10th grade exam very soon. Do you have any information about this? It seems this exam plays a big part in determining her future. Thanks for your imput.

Compassion staff will answer you on Monday when they can to confirm, but as Compassion runs through the churches, rather than the school, I do not believe they would have that information readily available.  You are free to ask her how she did in her exams in a letter though and hopefully she will respond next time.  Also, there is a possibility of you receiving a copy of her report card.  I do not think that it is something you can just request, but I do know that some of the projects in Ethiopia send them out, as I have several times received report cards for my own Ethiopian teen girl in the mail. So, while it's not a for sure thing and depends on her project, you never know what surprises might await your inbox!
I just said a prayer for your Melat that she passed her exam.

Thanks for your help.  I've written Melat that I'm praying for her and asking her about her exam.  I need patience in waiting for response time of six months.

Yeah, patience is hard sometimes haha!  I'm currently waiting on a letter from my 14 year old girl in Bolivia who is 9 months pregnant... I'll probably have to wait quite some time to find out in her letter if the baby is healthy and if she had a boy/girl.  I'm going nuts with the wait!
I do have another letter on the way from her, that she would have written around the time she was 7 months pregnant... but it's been "on the way" since Dec 10th, so I'm starting to worry it was lost in the mail...  Especially since my local post office was robbed in Dec. and a bunch of mail stolen...
*Edit to add: Actually, she's 15... I keep losing track of the date but her Quinceanera birthday was yesterday :D  I hope she was able to celebrate despite the pregnancy.

A lot going on there.  I pray the letter didn't get lost in the post office robbery.  Figure extra time for Christmas.  The last letter I got from Latin America took three weeks getting to Colorado and another three weeks getting to my house.  Prayers for the girl & her baby, too.

Oh 3 weeks? That makes me feel a bit better, especially since mail is usually slower here in Canada than the USA (probably because there is no delivery on Saturdays here).... so I still hope for it's arrival!  Dec 10th is the day the letter left London, Ontario.    Thanks for praying for her!

Hi Linda! Regrettably, we do not keep test scores on file for the children in our programs so we are unable to share this information with you. However, I can confirm that the 10th grade exam is very important in Ethiopia. It indicates whether the adolescent will go on to university or not. Please rest assured that Compassion will assist  her with whatever is ahead of her - whether that be university or a vocational training program.
