I believe that it is 100 extra money you can send your sponsored child and 1,000 to the family a year. Is it calendar year ? Or the month you stared sponsoring ? Also does Birthday gift money count in that 100 ?

You can give up to $100 as a birthday gift and up to $100 as a child gift each year and up to $1000 a year to the family. There are two links that I found really helpful regarding this. https://www.compassion.com/give-a-gift/faq.htm and http://www.bloggingfromtheboonies.com/2012/05/giving-financial-gifts-through.html Hope this helps and love that you are wanting to bless others.

Hi Karla! Katie is absolutely right and gave excellent resources to help you out! You can also check out our conversation regarding gifts, here. Also, when we say you can give X amount per year, we mean From January 1 to December 31. :) We place limits so that your child and their family do not become dependent on these gifts. Our goal is for them to become self sustaining leaders in their community. But we also want to protect them from becoming targets in their community if others see them receiving so many gifts. I hope this helps!
