Send your gifts as family gifts, not Christmas gifts. All money sent for Christmas is combined and all Compassion kids divide it. I would ask them to make your picture a family picture. Is your child in the earthquake area?

Can you give a gift to a correspondent child? I thought you couldn't.

Steve, we actually are able to send gifts to correspondent children now. There were a few months earlier in the year where we weren't able to process them, but that time has passed :).

Debra is correct. You have to call the gift in, but you can definitely
 give to your correspondent children.

Hi Debra! Yes, as long as you send those $60 gifts specifically as child or family gifts, there will be a photo included with the thank you letter. If you send the gifts as child gifts, only the child will be included in the photo. If you'd like the gifts to be given to the whole family, you can send them as family gifts. When family gifts are given, they do try to include family members in the photo, but not all of the family may be available for the photo when it is taken. Some siblings could be at school or parents at work, etc. I know your kiddos will love receiving your photo of your family too :).

I've also wondered about this as well.  I have 4 sponsor children and 7 correspondent children but have never seen what any of their family looks like!  It would be so great to be able to see them too!  So am I correct that the only way we can receive a picture of any of their family members is to send a family gift of at least $60?  I agree that you not only care about your sponsor child, but all of their family as well, so it would be great to at least see what they look like.

Trina, yes, the only way to receive a photo of any of the family members is to send a family gift of $60 or more. Thank you so much for caring so much for not only your sponsored children but their families as well!

yes as far as I can tell and understand if you send the $60 as a family gift they will take a picture with their family well as many as are available at least which is great all I can ask for really I understand all of them may not be able to be present at the picture as it depends on times and situations

I have asked my kids in letters for family photos.  Most didn't send them but some did.  I just write something like "I would love to see what your family looks like.  Do you have a photo of them you can send me.  It's okay if you don't, I understand."

I'd be nervous that they'd generously give me the only one they had! I think of a friend that only had about 3 photos of himself as a child, and a family I stayed with one time that handed me a photo they had on hand...

I had that happen before I'm sure since the photo was a few years old, a bit crumpled and had a coffee stain on it.  I photocopied it  and added a fancy border on the outside, printed on photo paper and sent the copy back to them so they still had a nice copy of it too.  I always do that, but most the kids that sent them to me the project took a photo for me and sent it :)

Jennifer, most of these people don't have many, or any, pictures to give. The Compassion photographer takes a new photo.
