I sent a family money gift as well as a money gift to my child in Uganda in January. Shouldn't I have heard that they received it and what was done with the money by now? Crissy Yarborough

Possibly Crissy, depending on when in January. If you figure two months to get there and two months to receive a letter, you should be receiving one soon. It could take longer than two months. They will be able to tell you Monday, when they are back in the office, whether your gifts arrived and if there is a letter on the way.

Crissy, I am so sorry that you have had to wait so long to hear back on the very generous gifts you sent to Sumairi! It looks like you sent them February 3. As Garry mentioned, it can take two to three months for gifts and letters to be delivered. This means that you will likely receive a thank you letter and photo very soon. However, if you have not heard back by August 3, please let us know and we will check into what the hold up is and request that letter and photo for you.

I called today to ask if they were able to see if the family had received my gift and if they would be responding soon but all they said is" if Compassion got it then the family got it too." They were only able to tell me a letter from my other sponsored child is on the way.

Crissy, I'm so sorry that you've been waiting for so long to hear from your kiddo regarding your very generous gift to them and their family. You've been patiently waiting for such a long time now. Thank you so much for your wonderful, generous heart in blessing your child in a tangible way and helping to meet the physical needs of their family. I'm sure they were so excited to receive this blessing from you! :) Please know that your child and their family will always receive 100% of the gifts that you give to them and I can assure you that Compassion is very diligent in handling these funds and making sure that they are always received by your child. While I don't work for Compassion, if I may, I would just like to say that our goal is to serve you as an honored sponsor and partner in this ministry and to make sure that you receive a letter from your child regarding your gift. I believe that Susan has kindly offered to send an inquiry on August 3 if Compassion still hasn't received your child's letter by then. I think maybe they like to wait until it has been at least six months just to try to avoid any possible confusion with the centers. Inquiries can take up to 45 days and so it's likely that you would receive your letter before then. I've actually sent a gift one time and then received a response six months and two weeks later so it's very possible that your letter will be arriving any day now. I sincerely hope that you receive it very soon! I know from my own experience how hard it is to wait to hear from our kids because we love our sponsored kids so much but it's so worth the wait! :) Thank you again for your kind heart and for your patience! Have a great weekend!

I finally got an email about my family gift and shortly after got a letter.  I was disappointed to get a picture of my child in the email but not in the letter.  I was hoping to get a picture of his family since it was a family gift. ( I will print the picture off the email but I would rather have a picture put in the letter.)  I was surprised they put the money in the bank.  I would have thought that they had more immediate needs but I am thankful they got the money. They said that they were saving the money for school but doesn't my monthly support pay for school fees?  Thanks Crissy

Hi Crissy, so glad that letter came and that you received a photo too! What a blessing. Every center addresses different needs. In some areas, funds for schooling are not a pressing community need. You can see exactly what your child's center focuses on by reading about their center on your account.

Edited to add: here is a screen shot of one of my kid's center info. So you can see what I'm talking about.
