I have two questions concerning the family gifts I sent to three of my sponsored children in Burkina Faso: Larba, Honorine, and Assimi. I’m hoping that you might be able to help me out with these queries!

1. If I intend to send a digital letter to my childrens’ families regarding the family gift I’d sent, is there an ideal time to send it? What if I send it before they receive news of the gift? All I’m planning to share in that letter is a short bible passage, Luke 21:1-4.

2. I’d initially sent Larba and Honorine a family gift of a smaller sum, and felt that I could have given more, so I sent a second family gift of $200 to each of them (on the same day). Will this confuse the logistical process? Will my girls receive the money as two separate gifts, or will the country office help to combine it into a single gift?

Thank you so much, and have a blessed day!

Hi Meredith! I would be happy to answer your questions.

1. Gifts usually take approximately 2 months to reach the field, whereas digital letters generally take 4 - 6 weeks. There's no guarantee as to which the family will receive first, though. I would suggest mentioning in the letter that you sent a gift to the family; that way, if your children receive the letter first, they will know they have something to look forward to, and if they receive the letter second, they will know about the gift you are mentioning.

2. This should not confuse the logistical process at all. Generally, when our National Office receives two family gifts for the same child on the same day, or maybe a day apart, they will combine the gifts and then give it as one to the family.

Thank you so much for sending these gifts to your sponsored children. What a blessing these will be!
