Final gift: How much would you recommend for a boy in Ecuador?

My sponsor child just graduated/left the Compassion program at the age of 16 and I would like to send him a final gift. Since I know he wants to go studying and lives near the capital of Ecuador where life is quite expensive compared to the income, I think a gift would be very helpful. Still I‘m not sure if for example 500 dollars would be too high and cause any problems for him. What do you think?

Esther, thank you so much for your kind heart towards your previously sponsored boy! Whenever you send a final gift to your child, it always goes to their center first, then to the child, who is able to seek direction from the center on how to use or save the gift, if they would like. Whatever gift you give him (as long as it's within our confines of $10 - $2,000) will be a huge blessing to him.
