I have not received photos or a description of the gift purchased for the $110 gift to Luciana (PE5290573).  Over six months ago I sent a check for $110, designated as a gift.  Since the Compassion website provides increments of $10, up to $100, I asked (via chat) how to send the full $100.  I was advised to send a check for $110.

I mailed a check for $110 with a letter, dated February 9, 2016.  The last paragraph of the letter stated, "Enclosed is a check in the amount of $110, for Gelen Luciana Huaman Marcelo (PE-5299573).  If she is not going to receive $100, please do not cash the check but notify me."  Despite my specific request, the money was applied to my monthly support.

In a phone conversation I was assured that this problem was taken care of and that Luciana would receive the $100.

Also, I have received only one letter from Luciana (besides the pre-sponsorship letter) since sponsoring her in June, 2015.  I have written six letters this year.  I thought the expectation was 2 to 6 letters a year.  I have received one in 15 months.

Hi Steve! I am so sorry for the confusion and frustration in giving this generous gift to Luciana back in February. I can confirm that the full $100 was forwarded on to her after we spoke with you in March and that she did receive it. I also do see that the thank you letter from her is currently in process as we speak! We also have a second letter from her in process as well. As we have been transitioning to this new letter system, the number of letters sponsors have received has decreased because there is a backlog at the country offices. We are working as quickly as possible to get the letters from the children translated and sent to the sponsors, but we know how much this has tested the patience of sponsors who just want to hear from their precious kids. Rest assured that your letters from Luciana are being processed and will be in your hands very soon! I cannot wait for you to see what her family was able to purchase with your generous gift! Thank you for being such a bright light in their lives!

You are not alone. It took 10 months total from the time I sent money last year until the time I got a picture and response from one of my little girls in Ethiopia. The other 3 girls responses, from Ecuador, Tanzania and Burkina Faso, also took about 8 months, I believe. Hopefully, this will all speed up as they work the "bugs" out of this new system. They are definitely struggling to get things moving.

I would like to follow-up on the two letters that were in the works four weeks ago.  One was a follow-up to a personal gift.  The other would be only the second letter received since sponsoring Luciana in June, 2015.

I'm not giving up on Luciana.  I met here last May and plan on visiting her again in April.  It's kind of sad to think I haven't received but one letter and will have visited her twice.  I'm sure she must be wondering what went wrong with her sponsor after the visit if she hasn't heard from me either.  I have several letters in the works.

Thanks for your help!  I know these are tough times and everyone is going through similar problems, but I still feel like I need to represent my sponsored kids.  I don't think they understand technical problems or should have to.

Steve, both letters are still in process. We have been working through that backlog of letters as quickly as possible, but the amount of letters that need to be manually translated is significant. I know how eager you must be to read these letters from your sweet Luciana, and I am so sorry that it is taking this long to get them processed. Though a few of your own letters have not been delivered to her yet, the one you wrote directly after returning from Peru was delivered to her already :). I know your words have encouraged her, and pray the rest of your letters are processed and delivered to her soon!

He bought 1000 birr ($43) mattress, 350 birr ($15) trouser, 270birr ( $12) shoes and 250 Birr ($10) Netela for his grandmother and shoes for his brother and clothes for his sister. I actually sent $100 family gift and $30 birthday gift at the same time. So, these are around $115 worth of gifts.

Thanks Jenny and it's great that the center actually told you the exact amounts of what each gift purchased cost.  I have sent 100 dollars (birthday) to each of my 2 Compassion kids-- one in Bolivia and the other in Burkina Faso and I did get a thank you letter with items purchased and photo of what they bought  but no exact  amounts.
Also sent 300 dollars as a family gift to Burkina Faso and received a photo and letter with items purchased but no exact amounts.

My child listed the price for his stuffs and his grandmother's Netela, but not for his siblings. What did your child in BF bought with $300 family gift and $100 family gift?

"I bought a pink shirt that I like a lot (probably the jacket in her hand), I also bought some boots, some shoes for school and some kitchen toys that I played with my sister, and I share my kitchen with them."
But yes, you're probably right, that what she is wearing is also new and I think there are 2 jackets in her hands.  What's neat is the American types of cereals she purchased which I think she meant by sharing with her sister. Canned food.... not sure what this .
This was purchased for Megan for her birthday in Bolivia--- 100 dollars.

Hi,
I sent a birthday gift to my child Emicah Paja (PH8400641) of $60. Her acknowledgement letter was late, I was told, because she forgot to mention the gift in her letter. Well, I finally got the letter today but there are no pictures! I'm wondering if they got lost in the process of sending the letter back to be re-written? I always send gifts $60 or over because I love the pictures so much. Could you please look into this for me? Thank you!

I have another letter from Princess Janelle (PH2960087) that was delayed for the same reason (forgot to mention her birthday gift in the letter). I want to make sure the pictures don't get lost with her letter either. If there's anyway you can check on the progress of that letter to make sure it has pictures that would be great!
Thanks for your help!

Hi Erik! I'm so sorry that Emicah's letter didn't have the photo of her with the gift attached. I will be sending an inquiry for that right away. Regrettably, I have no way to look up Princess' letter right now to see if hers will have the same issue or not. We will have to wait on that one until it gets placed on your account.

Thanks for looking into this!!

Update on Princess: I received the letter I was waiting on. It acknowledged a family gift that I had already received acknowledgment and pictures for. Probably the confusion lies here: I sent a gift of $60 for her birthday in June, and never recieved pictures or acknowledgement for that.  I sent a family gift in august and received a letter and pictures. I was told there was a delayed letter because she forgot to acknowledge a gift so she was re-writing it. Since those gifts were so close together I'm guessing she got confused about which gift she was thanking me for.

Anyway, the short version is, the pictures for her birthday gift never came in, but I did receive the family gift pictures. Would you mind also looking into this? Thank you so much!! I'm sorry about all the hassle.

Yep, Erik, this is what I sent the inquiry about on the 17th :). It's currently open and we should hear from them in about six to eight weeks, if not sooner.

No, the first one was about Emicah. My second comment was about Princess Janelle. Did you send an inquiry for both?

I sent Ana BR058000098 a birthday gift in August for her birthday in November. It's right around the sixth month mark now. Is there a letter in route to me about the gift? I love seeing how far my gifts can go.

I just checked my Giving History and the gift was actually posted in July. It's now over the six months.

Chantel, I am sorry you have not received a thank you letter for this gift yet. I just sent an inquiry to request a letter as soon as possible. Thank you so much for wishing to bless your sponsored child in such a tangible way!
