How do I know that my sponsor child is really getting the money and gifts I send? I was told by other sponsors their child didn’t receive the gifts they bought?

Christie, when you send a monetary gift, you will receive a thank you from the child within 6 months of having sent the gift. If you ever go longer than six months without receiving a thank you, please let Compassion know.

Also, if the gift is over $60 you'll receive a photo as well. Each center is required to keep records of all gifts bought and if there is ever a discrepancy Compassion wants to know so that they can look into it.

I've been a sponsor of many children over the last 7 years and have never had an instance of a child not receiving their gift. I've even had sponsors hand deliver gifts to the country office for some of my kids when they went on sponsor trips :) Always have received a photo and/or confirmation from the children.

If you know someone who hasn't heard about a gift, please ask them to contact Compassion so it can be looked into!

Christie,

You should most definitely receive a thank you letter and/or a photo for each gift that you send. You are entitled to know that your generous gift was received and how it benefited your child. As Kristen mentioned, if you know someone who has not been receiving thank you letters, please encourage them to reach out to us so that we can make sure that they do.

Thank you letters arrive within six months of when the gift is given. For gifts under $20, you will receive a thank you included in your child's next reply letter. It looks like you sent a two gifts in late 2017 and another gift just recently. You should receive thank you letters for these gifts in June/July of this year. Thank you so much for your partnership and generosity to this precious child in poverty! God bless you!
