I started sponsoring February 26th this year. I wrote her a letter a few days after, but have yet to hear back. Is this normal?

It can take months before you get your first letter.   The time line takes awhile since it has to be written then sent, translated then sent to you.   It is hard to wait but it is so great to get that first letter.

Hi Sarah! Thank you so much for investing in the life of a child in poverty through your sponsorship! It normally takes between weeks and months for the first letter. That said, it is not normal to go four months without receiving the first letter. This means you should receive the first letter before June 26th. I can see that Adriana is working on a letter for you as we speak and I trust you will receive this letter soon.

Why does it take that long? I can write in an hour and so can she, why the hold up in translation? Can I just keep writing?

Because when you have hundreds of kids in every center writing it takes time for translators to get letters translated. It's not like they have a 1:1 ratio of translators to sponsored children. That would not be cost effective.

Yes of course! I personally like to write about once a month. You can do whatever you're comfortable with!
