I have recently joined a new church in Oregon. They are sponsoring a church and a school that they started in 2011 in Sierra Leone. I thought it would be a great if we could partner together to further help these children. I wondered if you help there and if so , what would be the next best step?/ If not, who would you recommend? Thanks for any help you can provide!

Hi Lori! Thank you so much for contacting Compassion to request partnering with your church in Sierra Leone. Regrettably, Compassion is not currently working in Sierra Leone, nor do we have plans to expand there in the near future. Because we work through the local churches, we have to have willing church partners there in order to enroll children in the program. It can take years for us to develop strategic relationships within new countries and secure government permissions as well. Regrettably, I don't have any specific organizations to recommend to you either, but I do hope your church is able to find one to partner with in order to bless those beautiful children.

I know this is random and I'm sorry! I am just curious.. are you able to tell us if compassion is expanding into any more countries in the near future? If not, I do understand. Thanks :)

Hi Stephanie! Regrettably, I don't know of any countries that Compassion is planning to expand to in the next few years. We do want to make sure that we are being good stewards in the countries we already work in, including the ones we have opened more recently like Sri Lanka, and expand in those places before moving to open new countries. Like I mentioned above, it does take many years to develop relationships and secure government permissions in any country we work in too. I'd honestly encourage you to keep us in your prayers, that God would direct each and every step we take in our ministry :).
