How are children chosen?

How are children chosen for sponsorship and do they not receive any services until they are sponsored? I'm just looking at all these packets for Compassion Sunday and wondering if these children receive anything while waiting for a sponsor.

One more thing you can share on Compassion Sunday is that partner churches that have been a part of this ministry for several years plant churches in the poorest areas and they become partner churches. I was in Bolivia last month to visit 2 of my sponsor kids and both partner churches have planted churches. One of them two years ago and have 330 sponsor kids. 

Here's what I've done at these events. When you look at the child packets you'll see some stand out and those you pray for a sponsor. They will be sponsored. Others will be as well. They will stand out to you for a reason. I'm sure you can guess why.
