I know that I have a few general requests on the list from previous requests and losing a few correspondents over the past few months, but I wanted to see if I could add a few particular requests on top of the general ones. Now that the pace of correspondent assignments seems to have slowed down a good bit, I figure I may as well get on the list now because it'll be awhile before any are assigned. If I could please, be put down for 2 from Tanzania, 2 from Bangladesh, 2 from Columbia, and 2 from Bolivia I'd much appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi Lindsay! I'd be happy to add you back to the waiting list for these requests. To keep things as fair as possible, we do limit the amount of requests per sponsor per day to a total of five. I am putting you on the waiting list for two Tanzania and Bangladesh kids as well as one from Colombia today. Please feel free to request the other three on another day :).

Hello! I was wondering if I could be put on the waiting list to receive a correspondent child (any age, any gender!) from each Bangladesh, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand :)

Thank you so much!

Hooray! Chantel, I am so excited that you want to write to a child in our program that doesn't get letters. What a blessing and I pray you'll find it's well worth it watching God move through you to love and encourage one of His precious kids :). I have added you to the waiting list for a sweet girl, today.

I think those who are correspondents and/or who want to be or want additional kids deserve to know the rules changed:

http://www.compassion.com/letter-writing/tips-for-mailing-small-gifts.htm

It's now limited to six sheets, and they will be scanned instead of mailed. All original mail will be put in the garbage. This is to speed up the process. If I cared about my letters arriving so quick, I'd have used the website letter writing feature, yes? But apparently we live in a time when everything MUST be instant. *sigh* The worst thing was not being notified, so I spent money on things that will never arrive.

I would still like three more girls, despite the changes. I hope I'm still in the queue. I only just discovered the 'My letters' section on the website. I wanted to mention that, because maybe other correspondents have letters, too, that they don't realize they have.

The correspondent bug bit another member of our household again! My daughter, Savannah would like to become a correspondent to a girl 8 or younger. All of her contact including email are the same as mine. She is very excited to write her own child. Thanks and God bless!

Awe, Heather this makes me so happy! These are the types of bugs we like ;). Please tell her thank you for us; we're excited to see God use her gentle heart to impact the life of a child! She'll be a wonderful correspondent and has an amazing family to come around her and help he encourage her kiddo :). I've created an account for her and added her to the waiting list. We'll send you guys a packet in the mail once we're able to assign a child to Savannah. Have a blessed weekend!

Hello! I was at a retreat this past weekend and was sharing with some of my friends about being a sponsor and correspondent. One of the girls is going to be heading to college this next year, and was interested in the program, but doesn't know if she can afford it quite yet on her finances; however, when she heard about the correspondent program, she got excited about possibly being a blessing to a child in this way until she is ready to sponsor financially.

I thought I would check so that I can let her know if this can happen: Can a person be a correspondent without already being a financial sponsor? If so, how would they go about this?

Thank you so much for your time!
God bless!

Hi Mariah! Thank you so much for sharing your passion for Compassion with your friends! Yes, the correspondent program is open to anyone who has a desire to write to and encourage children in poverty. Please let your friend know that she is welcome to contact us with her mailing address and we would be happy to get her setup to be a correspondent.

Since it is taking a while for Honduras, Bangladesh, or Thailand, may I please add requests (same other preferences) for India and Burkina Faso? I'll be writing a bunch more letters soon, once I understand if greeting cards take 1 or 2 scans.

Hi E. Smart! I have added you to the list for a child from India and one from Burkina Faso. When requests are for specific countries, they can take a while to be filled. I have no doubt that the right child will be placed on your account in due time. These are all wonderful countries to correspond with a child from :). Also, I think Emily told you in her email earlier this morning that your greeting cards will take up two pages since we scan both sides of the greeting cards. That way your kids will be able to enjoy the fun picture on the front and your encouraging words inside! Blessings to you today!

I'd be happy to write to any girls age 5-16 (ages I don't already have so many of would be good, but it doesn't have to be if it's much longer wait) and 5 more of them, as you know. I did have specific country requests, but I can change my request to Honduras (I want to write one girl there, still, because I like using my Spanish) and the four others can be any combination of 4 countries I don't already write to. :) Just writing to all different places is nice, and I know I have the time to write to this many. It's such a nice activity for me, since I'm disabled and have a lot of time.

Hey, sorry if there was some miscommunication, but I still only wanted to write to girls... I have been assigned a boy to write to, and even though I'm anxious to write to more kids, I don't feel like I can relate to boys and would like to keep it all girls, if possible. Thanks!

Boys can be great letter-writers too! I understand your desire to connect to young girls, though :)
I'd be happy to write to him if possible, but I understand, of course, if it he has to go to someone else on the waiting list first.

Hi E. Smart! I am so sorry we gave you a boy instead of a girl. I think I might have been the one who didn't specify the gender on your Burkina Faso child request, for which I  apologize! I've put that request back on the list (where it was) and removed Issouf from your account. We will get him an amazing correspondent too!

Honestly, I can't tell, Heather, because we don't have any requests on the list for you now. You were just given Alex and Jhonatan a day apart, so I would say Jhonatan was your PE request and Alex was your general one.

Hi E. Smart! That's great that you're getting ready to write your girls! :) Thank you!

Regrettably, we do have to wait until a child becomes available that fits your requests and also when it's your turn to receive a correspondent before we can assign you a child. But if one becomes available soon for you, we definitely will :).

Hi, I believe I still have 4 more requests out, but I am a little confused. I received email and physical letter about sending to a Madina Ismail Kabido, and the items being undeliverable. Anyway, please note that we discussed the change that I was not made aware of until after I mailed all the items, so if we've discussed it or you've already emailed about it, no need to spend the money on physical letters. I don't know if Madina is supposed to be one of my kids, but she doesn't show up online, and I didn't mail her anything. Thanks!

Hi E. Smart! Yes, you do still have four requests on the waiting list :). I'm sorry for the confusion about the letter indicating we couldn't send something to Madina. You're right, she isn't one of your children, nor is she supposed to be on your account. She actually isn't even in the program any more. This letter was sent to you by complete error on our part, and you can feel free to ignore it. Thanks for brining it to our attention though!

No problem. You should have 14 new letters if not already, soon. One tracking confirms delivery, the other appears to maybe have not been scanned in if it arrived (I sent the one still "not delivered" first).

Hi! I recently lost one of my correspondent children - is it possible for me to send a final letter via email to the Compassion US office, to be printed out and scanned, or do I need to mail a letter from the UK?  If I can send it as an email to be printed out, which email address should I use.  No problem if it needs to be mailed.  Thank you!

Hi Ceri! If you're able to mail it in, this is how it needs to be done :). This is why we give three full months for the final letter to be sent; so that you have time to get it to our office :). Thank you so much for writing a goodbye letter to your sweet kiddo. I know they'll be thrilled to hear from you one last time!

I realized my last few requests are for girls in preferably 3 of these: Honduras, Bangladesh, India, or Thailand, but I said OR any I don't already write to. I'd like to just edit that to not include Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, or Zambia, because I actually sponsor kids in these countries with another org. But I am so happy to see Yeamilaksira today! :) I've never written to Ethiopia!
