Hi there! Please know that we want to do everything we can to help you to keep the relationship that you have with your child. If you are going through a short term financial difficulty, we have some options that may be able to help. However, if our options are not able to help you in your specific situation, we can make your child available for another sponsor.

We are here to help! If you need to stop sponsoring, please post here on this online community, email us at ciinfo@us.ci.org, or call 800-336-7676. We will work with each of you to see how we can best assist you in your situation.

Also, see this conversation about seeking short term assistance to continue your sponsorship.

Lauren, I am so sorry to hear that you need to cancel your sponsorship of Alexandra :(. If this is due to financial concerns, Compassion would be able to cover your support for the months of August through October and reduce your sponsorship rate to $19 a month for November through April. If that helps, please let me know and I will set that up for you right away. Otherwise, let me know if I need to continue in the process of placing Alexandra back up for sponsorship.

Right now I think it would be best if she received another sponsor and when everything becomes easier I would love to come back find a child who needs my help.

Hello! I recently signed up to sponsor a child this past Friday night at a for King and Country concert through the Compassion representatives there. I am a college student, and because of further discussion I have had with my parents (who are providing for me at this time), I won't be able to sponsor this child. I'm not sure that my information is in the system yet, so I'm not really sure how to cancel my sponsorship.
I hope to come back to Compassion in the future when I am able to make the payments.
Thanks for all you do!

Good morning Jamie,
I am so sorry to hear that you are thinking of canceling your sponsorship of Tian, but we do understand. If you feel it would be helpful, we would be happy to cover 3 months of sponsorship for you, to allow you a small break from sponsorship. If you feel this would be a good option, please let us know and I will be happy to cover the months of August through October. If not, I will be happy to fulfill your wish to cancel. I look forward to your response.

Hi, I sponsor one child and have received a letter about how I have an outstanding balance on my account (unpaid balance) I cannot afford to pay this balance nor can I continue to sponsor my child due to some personal financial reasons and the fact that I am a college student. What do I do?

Hi Gabrielle! I certainly understand that you're not in the position right now to sponsor Mykerwens and I have made him available for another sponsor today. Please do not worry about the balance on your account and I pray that your financial circumstances improve. Good luck in school and know you're always welcome to sponsor again with us at a later time when you're ready :). God bless you!

Melody, my heart goes out to your family and I'm so sorry you're struggling right now. We value you so much and appreciate the five years that you have faithfully committed to loving and encouraging sweet David and Jayanto.

I apologize as I don't know what your exact situation looks like, but if at all possible, we want to help you out in any way that we can. Would it help if we covered your support through the end of January? Starting in February, we could reduce your rate to $19 per month per child for up to six months also. If that is still a bit too much, although I know this would be difficult, we could even go down to just one child so that you're at least able to maintain a relationship with one of these boys.

Let me know if any or all of these options would help your family right now. If not, I will make them available for another sponsor. In the meantime, I've stopped your automatic contributions until we hear back from you.

I'm very sorry, but for the conceveable future, my husband and I need to cancel our sponsorship. We love your organization and we love our little girl and her family, and will definitely continue to pray for her daily, but we are no longer able to continue with sponsoring her. We've been struggling for about a year to make the payments on it, as well as everything else in life, and will soon find ourselves without a home.
I wish you all the best, and hope to join up again at a later date.

Charity, my heart goes out to you and your husband right now. I cannot imagine what you're feeling as this season sounds like a big shift financially for you. Thank you for your sacrifice in trying to maintain your relationship with Insos as long as you could. I have made him available for another sponsor today. I pray that God would provide for you and show you His love and faithfulness in this difficult time. You're always welcome to come back with us again but we definitely look forward to you and your husband being back on your feet and your situation improving. God bless you.

Ashlee, if you need to discontinue your sponsorship, we can definitely help you. I'm so saddened to hear that you're going through a hard time financially and have had to make this difficult decision. We are so grateful for your desire to help children and I know this must have been tough :(.

I have stopped your automatic withdrawal today but before I completely cancel your account, I wanted to make you aware of options we have available in case this is just a short term situation.

Would it help you if we just removed your extra giving to the Partners of Compassion Fund and went down to only sponsoring one child? This would decrease your monthly rate. We would also be willing to cover your support for three months and if needed, after that we can reduce your rate temporarily to $19 per month for up to six months.

Let me know if any or all of these options would help you out. If not, I understand and can make your children available for another sponsor.

Hi, we have sponsored Stephanni for a year now, but due to health/medical costs and recent loss of employment, we cannot afford to continue to support her. It breaks my heart, but our financial situation will not be changing any time soon and she deserves a sponsor who can pay, on time, every month. Can you take care of this for us?

David, I'm sorry to hear that you are going through such a hard time. It sounds like you have been through quit a lot lately. I just said a prayer for you that God will give you and your family comfort and peace in the midst of this storm and that your circumstances would improve quickly.

Compassion has an option for sponsors who are going through short-term financial difficulties to try to help them maintain their relationship with their sponsored child. They would be willing cover your support for 3 months and then reduce your rate to $19 for up to six months. My hope is that this might allow you to continue sponsoring your girl, however, I completely understand if you still feel you need to cancel at this time. The ladies at Compassion who monitor this forum will be back on Monday and they will be able to assist you. God bless.

David, it sounds like you have so much going on right now and are really in a tough place. I'm so sorry to hear that you're family is going through such a difficult time and like Adam, we pray that your situation improves quickly and God opens up doors for your family and comforts you during this time.

I certainly understand if right now is not the best time for you to sponsor Stephanni. We're so grateful for your sacrifice and for sticking with her as long as you were able. If the options that Adam mentioned to you would help, please let us know as we care deeply for you and your relationship with her and want to help where we can. But if not, we don't want this to be a burden on you and understand if you need to discontinue.

Regrettably, I was unable to locate your account by your name and email address. But if you're able to post your child's ID number or your sponsor number, that will help me locate your account and I can process your request depending on how you feel led to go forward.

God bless you, David!

My husband just lost his job so unfortunately we will only have my paychecks to live on which isn't very much. We have 2 kids of our own and I have to make sure they are taken care of first. I'm not sure how to end my sponsorship so if someone could help me, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm very saddened by this but we were barely making ends meet before.

Becky, I am so sorry to hear that your husband lost his job. I know this can bring some strain to a family so I am praying for peace and provision for you and your family in this time. We do have some options that may be able to help if you need a little assistance until you and your family can get back on your feet again. For example, we would be happy to cover your support for three months until after the Holidays. Then starting in February we could lower your support amount to just $19 for six months. Please let me know if this would help. If not, let me know and I will make Fedrick available for another sponsor.

I am sponsoring Redeit Tomas in Ethiopia. If you are able to help me for that time frame, I would greatly appreciate it. I do not want to give up this relationship with Redeit! So three months to get my family back in order would be a big help. I believe my account is under a different e-mail address: Becky.pfaff@yahoo.com

Just want to be sure you are fixing the right account!

Hi Becky! I'm sorry that we had the incorrect account up; your name is just popular in our system :). I found your account with Rediet and updated it so that his support is current through the end of January. Come February, if your situation hasn't yet improved, let us know and we're happy to help and possibly reduce your rate if you think that will be of assistance in your circumstances at that point.

I'm so glad we're able to help you maintain your relationship with him and I pray that God provides for your family during this difficult time and gives you peace and rest as you job hunt. I also pray that your husband finds a job here very soon and has favor with his future employers!

I would also encourage you to remove your email address if you don't want it to be seen as this is a public forum :).

Ingrid, I'm so very sorry you are having to make this difficult decision as you've been sweet William's sponsor for six and a half years. We definitely are sad to hear that you're struggling financially and like the two gentlemen in this original conversation you posted, mentioned, we definitely want to help you out if possible.

Let me know if either option (or both) that Adam proposed to you, would help you during this difficult time. If not, I will make William available for another sponsor. In the meantime, I have stopped your automatic donations until we hear back from you.

I have a suggestion for those who are out of work or not making enough money on the jobs they have now.Pizza delivery or waiting tables at a restaurant. For now I only have the pizza delivery job and it is sufficient. You'll have cash every day or night you work. I work with a driver who has a job in IT. For now he works that job full time and still keeps the delivery job two nights a week. He has been laid off work twice in the past year and it's a good thing he can continue this job on a part time basis.

I've been working my job full time and kind of looking for another job part/full time.Nothing yet.Something else is out there for us all. When I go this job I had another full time job that I later quit because it wasn't for me.Something better for all of us when the time comes.

I am so sorry to hear that you lost your home in the flood. :( Praying for you all as you recover and rebuild your lives. We are in the middle of system upgrades and I will be  unable to get into the system until later this week. I have made a note to cancel you sponsorship as soon as possible and I will follow up once it is taken care of.

Hi Emily,

I think the options are great, but for the foreseeable future, I'm not sure we can continue. We already cut unnecessary expenses (TV, gym membership, etc.) and it's still tight. I understand Williams suggestion for a part-time job, but they don't just come because you apply. Here is our sponsor number: 3545833

Thank you for helping me.

Summer, I'm so sorry that you had to make this difficult decision but I understand and we don't want this to be a burden on you. I'm sorry we weren't able to help you continue but I pray your situation improves quickly and I've made them available for another sponsor, today.

I also noticed your profile picture. I'm not sure what this specific situation looks like but I am praying for your loved one as I know it can be difficult to have someone you care so deeply about to be struggling with their health. But we serve a God who heals! So I pray for full heath and recovery and comfort for your family. God bless you!

I just signed up last night. As much as I would love to be a sponsor, I need more time to consider it. Please cancel my sponsorship before my child learns she has a sponsor. I don't want to start sponsoring only to stop shortly after and give that false sense of hope. After spending more time in prayer and consideration, I will start a sponsorship again in the future if I am able. Thank you!
ps-I love the child I have signed up to sponsor. Ideally, I would love her to be "held" for me. But I know that isn't always realistic. =)

Hi Emilee! I definitely understand if you need more time to consider sponsorship or if now is just not a good time for you to support a child. We are so incredibly grateful for your heart and you're always welcome to sponsor a child with us again if you ever decide to in the future.

Regrettably, I cannot hold her for you long term because our goal is to find these children sponsors as quickly as possible. However, I have placed her on hold for you for two weeks. If you decide in the next couple of weeks that this is something you would like to go forward with, let us know. If not, we'll make her available for another sponsor and you can always continue to keep her in your prayers if you wish as prayer is powerful! God bless you and I pray that God leads you and guides you:).

But...I think I'm in love with a beautiful little girl who lives around the globe. =)

Would you mind holding her for two weeks? (as well as the initial payment I made)I will contact you within two weeks with a final yes or no.

If you already made her available that is okay.

I hate to do this, but I need to stop the sponsorship for Migdalia. Money is going to be tight for quite a while. Also, I really don't want to lose Lady Lyn either, but I am afraid it may come to that in the near future. All I can really afford right now is to keep supporting Katherin. Is there anything that can be done? 3132343

Trevor, I'm sorry to hear that you're going through these financial struggles right now. I know how stressful things can be when money is tight. I'm not exactly sure what your situation is like but I pray that God will provide for all of your needs and give you peace during this difficult time. Compassion does have some options available for sponsors facing short-term financial difficulties. They are willing to cover your support for three months and the reduce your rate to $19 for up to six months to help take some of the burden off while you get back on your feet. Please let the Compassion staff know if you think this would help you in your situation. If not please let them know and they will be able to assist you with making Migdalia available to another sponsor. Thank you so much for everything you've done and continue to do for children in need, even in these difficult circumstances. God bless you, and I hope that your situation improves very soon.

Trevor, I'm so sorry that things are not ideal right now :(. We definitely want to help you in any way that we can like Adam mentioned. So that you have a few months to figure out your financial situation and get back on your feet, I have updated your account so that the support for all three of your children is paid for three months by us. Don't worry about support for any of them for the next three months. Lady Lyn and Migdalia are current now through the end of January and Katherin is current through the end of February now. We can re evaluate your situation after this point and my prayer is that your situation will have improved. If not, we can continue to work with you and figure out what the best options would be for you and your children :).

We value you, Trevor and are happy to help you out! I pray that God helps you to get back on your feet during this time. He's such a good Father and loves to provide for his children. Keep your chin up and thank you for your sacrifice and love for your kiddos!

Hello friends at Compassion. It is with a heavy heart that I am letting you know I am no longer able to continue my sponsorship. As our family's financial stability has recently changed, we have been put in the difficult position to reconsider all monetary obligations, commitments, and donations that we incur each month. Unfortunately, we have to cancel our sponsorship and put the monthly donation to our family's own needs in order to make ends meet. Can you please tell me what I need to do in order to terminate our monthly commitment with Compassion? Thank you.

Laury, I just said a prayer for you and your family. The ladies at Compassion who manage this community will be able to assist you tomorrow. I'm very sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties financially and now you are having to make this difficult decision on top of everything else. Thank you for being a blessing to your child for as long as you have. I just wanted to let you know that Compassion is willing to help sponsors who are going through financial struggles try to maintain their relationship with their sponsored child. They could cover your support for you for three months and then reduce your rate to $19 for up to six months if you think your situation might be short-term. Please let these ladies know if you think this would help or not and they will be able to assist you with whichever decision that you need to make at this time.

Good morning, Laury! It sounds like this was a really difficult decision for you and I'm so very sorry that your family is struggling :(. My heart goes out to you as I know that can be tough but God cares so deeply for you and your family's situation. I pray that He would provide for you during this time and give you peace.

It sounds like you not only had to reconsider your sponsorship but also other areas in your finances as well. After reviewing your account, I have went ahead and made your kiddo available for another sponsor today. Dawensky was so blessed by you and we truly appreciate your heart to want to sponsor him. Please know that your always welcome to sponsor again with us when you get back on your feet. But we certainly want you to take care of your family.

Susan or Emily, I had called before to ask if I could pay Mishels sponsorship payment last Friday but we had to replace tires on our car, is there a way I can pay all my past due $76 in 2 weeks on December 4th?

Hi Jennifer! It looks like you chatted with us a few weeks ago and had just said that you would call back to make the donation on the 20th. No donations have been put through yet. This means that whenever you can make the donation is just fine. :) Would you like me to setup a $76 donation to pull December 4th so you don't have to contact us again?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled No longer able to support my two children.

I find it necessary to cease supporting my two children, Heyner and Raquel. I have lost my full time job and no longer have a steady income. I do not know when I will be able to pick back up supporting 1 or more, and I want to be sure Raquel and Heyner are supported.

Hi Jacqueline,
I am very sorry to hear that you will not be able to sponsor Pablo, however, we do understand. I have removed him from your account, as of today. We do pray that God leads you back to Compassion in the future, and we would be blessed to partner with you again. Good luck in school! :)

I started sponsoring my child back in January of 2017. Recently, the company I worked filed bankruptcy and I lost my job. I'm not in a place financially to keep sending in my monthly payment. Sponsoring through compassion has been an incredible experience and I'm so thankful. However, I would like to know if you guys offer any other solution or could tell me how to cancel my sponsorship until I'm able to start work again to afford the monthly payment. Thanks so much.

Ashley, I am so sorry to hear that you lost your job. :( I am praying that you are able to find another job soon. If it would help you in this difficult time, we would be happy to cover three months of support for you. Then, you could just let us know how you are doing after the three months and we could go from there. Please let us know if that would help you in your situation. Also, I was regrettably unable to locate your account from your name and email address. Please post your sponsor number or your child's number so that we can further assist you.

hello, i would like to cancel my sponsorship permanently. I hope this has been a blessing to Maick (HO-223-0659), but i made the commitment for only one year and am now moving onto other ministries. I sincerely hope another sponsor picks him up and shares with him God's Love.

Thank you for this opprotunity,
Keith (07178950)

Keith, I am so sorry that you cannot continue with Maick, but thank you so much for blessing his life over the past year. I have cancelled your sponsorship as of this morning.
