Hi there! Please know that we want to do everything we can to help you to keep the relationship that you have with your child. If you are going through a short term financial difficulty, we have some options that may be able to help. However, if our options are not able to help you in your specific situation, we can make your child available for another sponsor.

We are here to help! If you need to stop sponsoring, please post here on this online community, email us at ciinfo@us.ci.org, or call 800-336-7676. We will work with each of you to see how we can best assist you in your situation.

Also, see this conversation about seeking short term assistance to continue your sponsorship.

Hi Alisha. I am so sorry that Compassion has disappointed you. I have made John and Hanna available for another sponsor at this time. We will not withdrawal any more donations from your account. I am sorry that Compassion was not a good fit for you, but I certainly hope you find a ministry that is. I can tell you have a heart for children. I truly hope you are able to find a program to continue blessing kiddos through! :) Thank you for being willing to try partnership with us!

Hi Natalie. I am so sorry you are having to make such a difficult decision! If it would help you get back on your feet, I would love to cover your donations for Lisdanis through December. I can also reduce her sponsorship rate to $19 a month from January through June if that would help you too. This is our gift to you; no need to pay it back at a later date. Lisdanis would still be taken care of completely at the program and you would still be able to send and receive letters from Lisdanis. Please let me know if this would help you!

Sherri, we are happy to help with whatever you need to do right now. If this is due to a short term financial difficulty, we would be happy to cover your support for three months and then lower your support amount to $19 for six months. I also noticed that you have an extra commitment to the Medical Fund. You are welcome to take a break from giving to this general fund as well if it would help you to be able to continue the relationship you have started with your child. Please let me know if either of these options would help. If not, let me know and I'll make Courage available for another sponsor. I'll be praying for you too that God will give you the "courage" to do what you need to do. :)

Eleanor, something as unexpected as having to get an entirely new car because yours broke down, can really take a toll on your financial plans. I'm so very sorry for the situation that you're in and I'm praying for you!

You have been such a faithful sponsor to so many children for over 25 years and my heart breaks that you had to make this difficult decision. I know that loans can sometimes be paid off quickly, while others can take some time. I know how deeply you care for these children and we really would love to help you if you think in the next several months, things might quiet down and your situation will have improved enough for you to continue supporting these kiddos.

Would it help you if we covered your support for these specific children (and BOC23) for three months? We would also be happy to reduce your rate for these kiddos to $19 per month per child for six months. I know you're aware of these options that we have for others but I want you to know they're available for you too and we value you and want to help in any way that we can.

Let me know if your in a situation where this would be of help. If not, I understand and I'll make these children available for another sponsor.

Again, I'm praying for you and I just want to encourage you that you're a life changing blessing for each of the children you sacrificially and selflessly love and serve through your sponsorship. Thank you for all that you've done and continue to do for children and to glorify God :).

Eleanor, I am so sorry you are faced with this situation as car issues are no fun. :( As you requested, I have removed eleven of your financial commitments. This leaves an even sixteen commitments. I broke up the automatic withdrawal dates to be eight commitments on the 5th and eight commitments on the 20th of each month. Hopefully, this will be a little easier to keep track of for you as well. I imagine having all different dates that the support is coming out could have gotten complicated.

Tori, I am so very sorry to hear about your job :(. That can be so difficult and I pray that the Lord opens up a door for you very soon to find new employment. Would it help you out if we covered your support through the end of March? Hopefully by then, you will be back on your feet and working again. We certainly want to help you maintain your relationship with her if we are able to. Let me know if this would help and I'll update your account. If you do not anticipate this to be short term, let me know and I will make Layz available for another sponsor.

That would be amazing! I am currently looking for a job. I am also in college so money is going to be very tight. So I really don't know if I will be able to pay at all. I don't know how long I will be out of a job. But I love this little girl and I want her to get the care she needs. I would rather her to be put up for another sponsor than wait on me. So will you put her up for another sponsor? I think that is what she needs most.

Sadly I have become behind on my payments to my sponsor child. I have been in between jobs and until I can get financially stabled again I will need to pull out. Is there a way to still make up my payments without further paying? This makes me very sad but I hope that I will soon be able to be a blessing to him in the future.

Andrenique, I do see that your support is current right now through September. I am so sorry that this has become stressful financially for you and we do not want it to be a burden for you. Because it sounds like your situation is turning around for the better here very soon, we want to help you out if we are able to so that you can maintain your relationship with Joffre. Would it help you if we brought your support for him current through the end of March? We can also temporarily reduce your rate to $19 for up to 6 months. My hope is that by this time, you will be settled in your job and you won't have to worry about the months missed for Joffre and can start fresh. If this will help you, let me know and I'll update your account. If not, we can help you process one last donation and then make your child available for another sponsor.

Angel, I am so sorry that you need to cancel your support of Marion. I know how difficult it can be to make this decision :(. We truly value your relationship with your girl and if your situation is short term, we would love to help you. I have stopped your automatic withdrawals effective today and have cancelled your extra giving towards the Highly Vulnerable Children's Fund. This will actually reduce your rate to the normal $38 for Marion. Would it help you if we kept this extra giving off? We would also be willing to cover your support for Marion through March and could temporarily reduce your rate to $19 for up to 6 months beginning in April. Please let me know if this would help you get back on your feet and I will update your account. If not, let me know and I will make her available for another sponsor.

Thank you for all of the options but My husband and I would just like to cancel for now. I am not sure why I have an outstanding balance on my account. It was supposed to be placed on hold while compassion figured everything out with our child's development center. i was told that weither or not we decided to continue sponsoring I would not have to pay for those months that the development center was closed if it did indeed open. Please clear my account and take Afi off. We will continue to keep Afi in our daily prayers and thank you for everything.

Jordan, I noticed that you had chatted with us a few months ago about the issues going on at your child's student center. We had adjusted your account for the initial months that we were monitoring your child's center but then there was an extension added because we were seeing progress at the center. I am so sorry that your support was not adjusted during this extension period! This was our error. I have made Afi available for another sponsor. You are not responsible for the months missed or anything forward. Please know that your support and encouragement to him will stay with him for many years to come. Thank you for all that you have done for him and for your continued prayers! God bless you! :)

Lerpway, I am so sorry that you got in an accident and I hope that you are alright and healthy. Moving is already hard on the finances and to have accident expenses as well I'm sure was difficult. I pray that you are getting back on your feet now financially and physically. Would it help if we were to cover your support for a while to get you through this tough time? For example, we would be happy to cover your support through the end of January and then we could lower your support amount to $19 for six months. It looks like you have a commitment of $7 to the Partners of Compassion fund and you are welcome to take a break from giving to this fund. Please let me know if any of these options would help you to be able to keep the relationship that you have with your child. If not, let me know and I'll make your child available for another sponsor. It looks like we still have a South Dakota address on file for you. Please let us know if this needs to be updated. You are welcome to email socialmedia@compassion.com with your new address or log into your "My Account" to update it yourself.

Hope, I sincerely apologize for the confusion regarding the situation at Adarsh's student center. We are closely monitoring this situation because the center was receiving threats from a local fundamentalist group. The children are only attending when it is safe for them (our priority) and so regular activities are not going on right now. This started in mid December and we sent out a letter to you as soon as we heard because Adarsh is not receiving the full benefit of the program during this time. This is a result of us trying to be completely upfront with you and tell you exactly where your support is going (or not going). We are expecting a resolution and will reassess the situation around March 9. For this reason, I am refunding the month of December for Adarsh's support and I have adjusted your account so that you will be shown as paid through the end of March. Are you needing to cancel due to the situation at his center or was there something else going on? If this is due to a financial difficulty, we would be happy to lower your support amount to $19 for six months if the situation is resolved in March. If the situation is not resolved, we may have to close this center and Adarsh would no longer be our program. You are welcome to just wait until March and see what happens if you would like. Please let us know if you have any feedback for our organization and if we can help in any way.

Brandy, congratulations on your new addition! I'll be praying that your new little one's health will improve and that she will be able to come home soon. This is bittersweet as I know that things can be a little scary with a sweet little preemie and I'm sure complications can cause added strain on already difficult finances. I'll be praying for peace for your family as well as you get your little girl home. In the mean time, I have made your financially sponsored child available for another sponsor.

Stormy, I am sorry to hear that you have run into some financial struggles. :( I know you only just started sponsoring Josue a few months ago. We do have some options, if you think that these money problems might clear up in the next three to nine months. For example, we would be happy to cover your support for all of the months missed up through the end of this month and start you in February at $19 a month for six months. Please let me know if this would help. If not, let me know and I'll make Josue available for another sponsor. Please don't feel pressured either way but just know that I can help you with whatever you need right now.

Unfortunately I can't afford to donate any money. My fiancé and I are struggling pretty bad right now and I'm not sure as to when our money problems will come to an end. I believe it would be better for Josué to have a different sponsor. This is very hard for me to do cause I was so excited to have a child to sponsor but u have to think of my family as well and Josué deserves a sponsor who can give him more time. Thank you though for being so understanding and I hope that in the future I can sponsor again.

I’m very sorry, but I need to stop my sponsorship of Mairelyn (3129799). I’m in my last year of college and making payments for a mission trip this summer; I’m having a really hard time making ends meet and I can’t afford to continue to sponsor right now.

Haley, as Gary pointed out, we would be happy to work with you during this time to help you to be able to keep the relationship that you have with Mairelyn. For example, we could lower your support amount to $19 for six months while you finish out the semester. Then over the summer, while you are on missions, we could cover your support for three months. Please let me know if this would help. If you think things are too uncertain after you are done with college and doing missions ( and I would completely understand this) just let us know.

Thank you, Susan.
While I would love to say I think I could manage to continue sponsoring at the lower rate, I really don’t think I can. After I finish college, I plan on going to get my Master degree. So, financial security isn’t something I feel like I can claim in the near future.
I’m very sorry, but thank you all for being so understanding and easy to work with. I hope to sponsor again sometime down the road.

As a former girl scout and life-long lover of girl scout cookies, I very much like your profile picture. :)

Also, as you requested, I have made two of your children available for other sponsors. I know that must have been a difficult decision  :( and it looks like we have assisted you in the past. Thank you so much for all that you have done for children in poverty over the years! It looks like you have impacted eight children through your sponsorships and letters. Josephine, I am so sorry to hear that you need to discontinue your support of Kodi. You have been such a faithful sponsor to her for many years and she is anticipated to graduate our program in 2017. May I ask if there is anything that we could have done to better serve you?

I have stopped your automatic donations effective today. Before I make her available for another sponsor, I wanted to make sure you were aware of options we have available for you if this request is due to short term financial difficulties. Compassion would be willing to cover your support for the next three months and also temporarily reduce your rate to $19 for up to 6 months. Please let me know if this would help you out and allow you to maintain your relationship with Kodi.

If not, please let me know and I will make her available for another sponsor. You will be welcome to send her a letter saying goodbye. If you choose to discontinue, we ask that you write the words, 'Final Letter' at the top of your note so that it is processed correctly.

Josephine, I have made Roselyn available for another sponsor. It will be just fine that you did not write "Final Letter" at the top of your letter. This documentation helps us in processing when a child is no longer listed as sponsored. However, we should still be able to send the letter. Thank you so much for all that you have done for Roselyn over the years! What you have done for her will stick with her for many years to come.

Marsha, I am so sorry to hear that you're experiencing financial difficulties right now:(. I understand that can be hard and I pray your situation improves quickly. We so appreciate your heart to support sweet Alexa and I see that you just recently began sponsoring her back in October. We want to help you maintain your sponsorship if possible so that you're able to continue building a relationship with your girl. Before I cancel your sponsorship, I wanted to make sure you're aware that we do have options for you if you believe that your situation is short term. Compassion would be willing to cover your support for the months of January through March and we could also temporarily reduce your rate to $19 per month for up to 6 months beginning in April. Would this help you out? If so, let me know and I'll update your account! If not, I understand and I can make your girl available for another sponsor.

Alyssa, we are a non-profit and we are not going to make you pay the balance of your support for Peace (love that name!). I'm praying for peace for you as you move out on your own and in your new place. :) As you requested, I have made Peace available for another sponsor. Please let us know if we can help in any other way.

Benny, l am so sorry if you're feeling overwhelmed financially :(. Life is definitely expensive but be encouraged that we serve a God who wants to provide for us and take care of us. I pray that your situation improves quickly. I certainly understand if it's not an ideal time for you to support a child and I have made Piero available for another sponsor today. Please know that you're always welcome to come back and sponsor with Compassion at a later date. Let me know if there is any other way that I am able to assist you.

Hi Emily! We understand that it can be difficult to sponsor a child while in college and can certainly help make your child available for another sponsor for you. Regrettably, I was unable to locate your account by your name and email address. Please post your child's ID number here so that we can find your account.

Hi Sarah. I am so sorry you are struggling financially right now.  I totally understand how difficult it can be to be financially stable when you are attending school and don't have a job. I have put Julia up for sponsorship again. Thank you so much for investing in Julia's life over the last four years. You have truly blessed her life abundantly, especially through the many letters you wrote to her. We would love to partner with you again in the future. :)

Sheniah, I'm so sorry to hear that your situation has not improved like you'd hoped. It sounds like right now is not the best time for you to sponsor a child as we don't want it to be a burden on you and know that it's important for you to take care of yourself. As requested, I have made Viviana available for another sponsor today. We are so grateful for your heart for children and when your situation improves and you're back on your feet, please know you're always welcome to sponsor again with us. God bless you!
