Hi Susan,

Due to unfortunate changes in my financial situation, I need to cancel my sponsorship of Valeria Denisse Ochoa Zuniga (EC5500347). I understand that there are other to help sponsors continue their sponsorship but I think it is best to have Valeria made available for another sponsor.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Joy! I am happy to tell you a little more about our correspondence program. The only requirement is to write to the child at least three letters each year. You would receive all of the information on that child so that you can write personal letters. Please just let us know if you are interested in this program and we will place you on our waiting list for a child in need of a letter writer. :)

Jkzoacy, I'm so sorry to hear this and I can tell it was difficult for you to make this decision. I know we have helped you out just a bit in the past so you're familiar with the options we have available to you. Would it help you out if we were able to cover your support through the end of July and start you fresh in August? I want to do what I can to help you maintain your 7 1/2 year relationship with Lima if possible. You certainly know your situation better than I do and so if you need to discontinue, let me know and we can process your request.

Rachel, I'm so sorry to hear that you are struggling financially and I pray that your situation improves quickly. Our records indicate that Paul is the primary sponsor on this account. For security purposes, we do have to have Paul's permission before cancelling this sponsorship. Please ask him to post here or email us at socialmedia@compassion.com to verify his desire to discontinue the sponsorship of Shyamol and we will process your request at that time.

I did want to make sure you were aware of options we have available for sponsors going through short term financial difficulties that may help you and Paul maintain your relationship with Syamol. We truly value your relationship with him and would be willing to cover your support through the end of May and even reduce your rate to $19 beginning in June for up to six months. Please let me know if either of these options would help you out during this time. If not, we will wait for Paul to contact us as will make Shyamol available for another sponsor.

Hi Sfsopi! I am just another sponsor like you but I wanted to let you know that Compassion has some options available to help sponsors out when they are facing financial difficulties. They are willing to cover your support for a time and then even offer a reduced rate after that of $19 for up to six months. Sfsopi, if you would be willing to continue your sponsorship with the financial assistance that Compassion has available then I will pray for you every day for a month while you look for another job, and you pray with me, and lets see if the Lord does not provide you with the income you need to continue sponsoring. Sometimes things seem big to us, but if we take things a day at a time and trust the Lord to provide for us then we see that He is faithful to provide. I know exactly how you feel right now. What do you say?

Thanks, Adam, for helping out! You're amazing! God bless you! :)

Sfsopi, as you requested, I have made Thanpimol available for another sponsor. Wishing you all the best as you finish out your studies! If you would like to stay involved in helping children in poverty, please consider writing to children as part of our correspondents program. We could set you up to write to a child who has a sponsor but their sponsor is unable to write the letters. The requirement is just to write at least three encouraging letters a year to the child (no financial commitment). This may be a good option for you all as a group. :) Let us know.

Jensen, I'm sorry to hear that you're in such a tight spot financially and now you are having to make this difficult decision on top of everything else. I know how hard it can be just to get by in college because I have been there and so I can certainly understand. I just wanted to make sure that you knew that Compassion has some options available to try and help sponsors out when they are facing difficult financial situations. They may be able to cover the months you are behind and they are usually willing to reduce your support to $19 for up to six months. Maybe you could consider whether taking that option would allow you to hang on to your sponsorship of Manuel. I pray that God blesses your financial situation and I wish you all the best with your school work. Hang in there! College is tough but you can do it!

Diego, I'm so sorry that you're experiencing financial difficulties right now :(. My heart goes out to you and I'm praying that you bounce back quickly and that God would bless you abundantly and provide for you during this time as He is so faithful to His children.

Because you have been with Abiudi for almost five years and we value your relationship with her, I want to make sure you're aware of the options we have available before completely cancelling your sponsorship. Would it help if we covered your support through the end of August? We would also be willing to temporarily reduce your rate to $19 per month for up to six months beginning in September. If you believe your situation might be short term and want to try and maintain your sponsorship of Abiudi, please let me know and I'll update your account. If not, I understand and I'll make her available for another sponsor.

Sharon, I am so sorry to hear that your husband has become disabled. That sounds like an awful situation. :( I will be praying for you all as you face this road ahead. I have a friend whose husband just had a stroke and he has a long road to recovery. It sounds like you are in a similar situation.  So sorry! Since you have sponsored two children for quite a long time, I am also saddened to see these relationships end. I know that you said you are not sure how long this will last but would you be able to keep one child if we helped you for the next nine months (covered the support until August and then lowered the support amount to $19 for six months)? Please let me know if this would help. If not, let me know and I will be sure to make your children available for new sponsors.

I will absolutely do that, Diego. Keep your head up, brother, and remember that this is just a season and this too shall pass. God has a purpose for everything and He is working all things for your good right now in ways that you're not even aware of yet. It's hard to wait for the Lord to show up in situations like this but His timing is always perfect. Sometimes it seems like it's at the last possible minute and in a way that we never saw coming, but in the end we see that He never left our side. God bless you and your family, Diego, and I will be praying for you.

Cathy, I'm sorry to hear that you have such large bills right now. Dental issues (especially root canals and gum issues) are no fun because it is often painful, sometimes scary, and then you leave with a large bill. :( We have to do what we have to do to be healthy though, right?  You mentioned that you will be paying on these bills for a long time and I do not know what you are looking at, but I just wanted to make sure you knew that we are happy to help you out for up to nine months. For example, we could cover your support for three months and then lower your support amount to $19 for six months. If it will be longer than that or if you really just need to cancel, I understand. Just let me know.

Jessica, I am sorry to hear that you are still struggling, but I understand. :( I have made your children available for other sponsors.

Regrettably, we will need to reserve the letter writing relationship for their new sponsors. This means that while you are welcome to continue praying for them, you would not be able to continue writing letters to them. However, you can write each of them one last letter. Simply write "Final
Letter" at the top of your correspondence, along with their child numbers.  Please send the letter to Compassion's address below (you
cannot send a final letter through the web) Compassion International

Colorado Springs, CO 80997

There is another option that you might consider. You could become a letter writer or correspondent for a child who already has a sponsor but their sponsor is unable to write. There is no financial commitment to be a correspondent but just a commitment to write at least three letters each year. You would receive all the information on that child so that you can write personal letters of encouragement. Please let me know if you would be interested in this program as I would be happy to get you started. :)

You rock Jessica! Your prayers and encouragement through the letters you write are every bit as important as supporting a child financially. God bless you.

Hi Kamrin. It sounds like you're going through a tough time financially right now and I'm very sorry to hear that. I know how difficult and uncertain it can be in a time like that. I just wanted to make sure that you were aware of the options Compassion has available to help with short term financial difficulties. They will cover your support for a few months and then decrease it $19 for up to six months. If you think that your situation might be short term then maybe this option might allow you to maintain your relationship with your sponsored child. What do you think? I pray that your financial situation improves very soon.

Good morning, Kamrin! I'm so sorry that your current circumstances have forced you into a place where you can no longer support Alex :(. That can be so hard and I pray that God would give you His peace and remove all anxiety you may have during this time. He is such a good Father and loves to provide for his children!

Like Adam kindly mentioned, we value your now over six year relationship with your child and we want to help you out if we're able to. Let us know if the options he gave would help you out. We could cover your support through the end of August so that you wouldn't have to make a donation for the next three months and then beginning in September, we could temporarily reduce your rate. We could also remove your extra giving towards the HIV/AIDS Response fund (wow, thank you for your generosity!). This alone would permanently reduce your rate further taking you from $48 per month to $38.

You know your situation better than we do and so please know it's not an obligation but we are only hoping to help you maintain your relationship with Alex if you have a desire to continue. If this will help, I'm happy to update your account. If not, let me know and I'll make Alex available for another sponsor. In the meantime, I have stopped your automatic donations until we hear back from you.

Hi Liz! It sounds like you're kind of getting hit from all directions right now. :( I'm very sorry to hear that you've had all of this come up with your finances at once. I know how difficult that can be. Financial uncertainty is one of the worst feelings and I've been there before as well.

Since you mentioned sponsoring again in the future I just wanted to make sure that you were aware that Compassion has some options available to try to help sponsors make it through difficult financial times. They would probably be able to cover your support payments for a few months for you and then lower them to $19 for up to six months to help take some of the burden off while you get back on your feet. Do you think that option might help to provide a way for you to stay connected to your precious kiddo in your current sponsorship? I certainly understand if not. It sounds like you're dealing with quite a lot right now. I just wanted to make sure that you were aware that option was out there while making your decision. I pray that the Lord would bless your financial situation and provide comfort and healing during this difficult time for you and your family like only He can.

Hi Liz! I'm so saddened to hear that you're family is going through financial difficulties right now. That's a lot to take on and I completely understand if you're just not in a season where you're able to sponsor a child as we don't want you to spread yourself thin. I see that one of our representatives also emailed you options that Adam also so kindly mentioned above for us. Let me know if these options would be of interest for you. If not, I can make your child available for another sponsor. We're happy to help you but don't want you to be burdened either. We respect whatever decision you feel you need to make in your situation.

Marsha, I'm sorry for the situation you're in :(. Before I completely cancel your sponsorship of Alan, would it help you out if we covered your support for the months of July through September? We wouldn't need any more donations until October. My hope is that if this is a short term situation, it would give you the to get caught up. You have been his sponsor for over three years and are such a blessing. We want to help you if possible so let me know if you'd like me to update your account. If not, you certainly know your circumstances better than I do and I can make Alan available for another sponsor.

No worries, Kamrin! We understand that there are some situations that you just can't get around canceling. As you requested, I have made your child available for another sponsor. Thank you so so much for all the love and support that you have provided for Fundi over the last six years! Know that what you have done has made a huge difference.
