Ben, my heart breaks to hear that you're experiencing financial difficulties :(. I merged your inquiry into this conversation so that you can see you're not alone and we want to help you during this time. I pray that God would provide for you during this time and overwhelm you with peace that only He can give.

As Adam mentioned in his comment to you, we would be happy to cover your support for both Hafija and Marcos for three months and temporarily reduce your rate to $19/month per child for up to six months if this would relieve some of the burden and allow you to maintain your going on three year relationship with these kiddos. Please let me know if you're interested in one or both of these options and we can update your account for you. If not, I understand and let me know if you're wanting to discontinue your sponsorship of one or both of your children and I will make them available for other sponsors.

Hi Christen! I'm sorry that you haven't been able to get through to anyone. I believe that the Compassion offices are closed on the weekends so you should receive an email reply next week. Please rest assured, though, that the ladies at Compassion who monitor these forums will be able to assist you on Monday as Sara mentioned. In the meantime, I wanted to make sure that you were aware that Compassion has some options available for sponsors who are going through short term financial difficulty. They are usually willing to cover your support for three months and then temporarily reduce your rate to $19 for up to six months. Do you think this option might help with your current situation and allow you to continue your relationship with your sponsored child? It looks like from your picture that you might have gotten married recently. If so, congratulations!

Christen, I'm so sorry that you couldn't reach us over the weekend as we're only in the office to assist sponsors Monday-Friday. I do see that one of our representatives responded to your email this morning and offered to cover your support for a few months if it would help in your situation. Please let us know if it would and we're happy to update your account but if you need to discontinue, we understand and can make Samantha available for another sponsor. We do value you however, and wanted to make sure you knew about the options available to you before completely cancelling your account.

Regrettably, your donation for this month is already in processing since you're setup on automatic withdrawal and so I'm unable to stop this months support on your account. It sounds like you really didn't want support coming out for this month and so if you need this months support refunded back into your account, please let me know and we can request that it be put back on your card. I've stopped your automatic donations so that no further support will be taken out until we hear back from you.

Sherry, my heart goes out to you and your husband as I know how stressful and difficult your situation might be right now. I just pray God's steadfast peace over you both and that another job opportunity would open up quickly for your husband! As Adam kindly mentioned, we value you as a sponsor and are happy to help during this time if any of the options he mentioned would help you out (a reduced rate for up to 6 months and/or we're willing to cover your support for three months). You certainly know your situation better than I do and so if this will help, let me know. If not, I can make your kiddos available for another sponsor as we certainly don't want this to burden your family right now.

Another option I wanted to bring up is that we can also remove your extra giving towards the HIV/AIDS Fund which would permanently reduce your rate by $7 and we could reduce your account to just sponsoring one child and that would reduce your rate by another $38 and still allow you to maintain a relationship with one of these children. If this would help you, please let me know if you would like to continue supporting Tharaka or Veronica and I can update your account.

We appreciate your hearts for these precious children and we're praying for you!

Janie, I'm so sorry that your financial situation has changed suddenly on you as I know that can be stressful. We don't want you to be burdened through supporting your child when you have a lot on your plate right now. If you need to cancel, I can certainly help you with that and I have stopped your automatic donations today.

Before I completely cancel your sponsorship of Rita, I wanted to make sure you knew we had options available if you think this will be short term. Would it help you out if we covered your support for the next three months? We would also be willing to reduce your rate to $19 for up to six months if this would assist you as you get back on your feet.

Please let me know if you'd be interested in one or both of these options and I'll update your support for Rita and keep her on your account. You know your situation better than I do and so if not, I will make Rita available for another sponsor. I pray that your situation improves quickly and that you would feel rest and peace during this time!

Natalie, we are sad to see you go, but I have honored your request by making your child available for another sponsor. Thank you for your long time support of Irakoze (fitting that her name actually means "thanks" :)). Please know that she will remain in Compassion's program while we search for another sponsor for her. I want to encourage you to write Irakoze a final letter saying goodbye. Simply write "Final Letter" at the top of your correspondence, along with Irakoze's child number.  You can send the letter to Compassion's address below (you cannot send a final letter through the web):

Compassion International

Colorado Springs, CO 80997

Please let us know if there was any way we could have better served you as a sponsor as we are always looking for ways to improve our program.

Good morning, Alicia. I'm so sorry to hear that you need to discontinue your support of Jisoy but I have stopped your automatic donations today. Is there anyway we could have better served you during your sponsorship? We're so grateful for your love and support of this boy and before I completely cancel your sponsorship, I want to make sure you're aware that we have options available for sponsors going through short term financial difficulties. Would it help you if we covered your support of Jisoy from the months of July through September? If so, let me know and I'll update your account so that you can maintain your sponsorship of this boy. If not, I understand and can make him available for another sponsor.

Mitchell, I'm so sorry that you're frustrated :(. Is there anything that we could have done to serve you better? You mentioned that something came up and I have stopped all of your future automatic donations effective today. I have also cancelled your extra giving towards the Highly Vulnerable Children's fund. Before I completely cancel your sponsorships, I see that you've only been a sponsor for about five months and I wanted to make sure you're aware that we have options available for our sponsors if you're going through financial difficulties and think this might be a short term situation.

Would it help you if we covered your support for all of your children for the next three months? We would also be willing to temporarily reduce your rate for each child to $19 per month instead of the normal $38. We can do this for up to six months in hopes to help you maintain the relationships you're bulding with your three girls. If so, please let me know and I'll update your account. If not, I understand and we can make your children available for another sponsor. I pray that everything is alright and that God would comfort you during this time.

Katrina, I am so sorry to hear that you are faced with such a difficult decision. Please know that we can help you with whatever you need to do right now. We just want to make sure you are aware that we have some options if this is due to a short term difficulty. We would be happy to cover your support for three months and then lower your support amount to $19 for six months if it would help you to be able to continue the relationship that  you have with your child. Please let me know if this would help. If not, let me know and I will make your child available for another supporter.

Cody, you and your wife have been such an incredible blessing to this ministry for the past year and a half and have made an eternal impact on Trixie. Thank you for loving and supporting her and I know she'll be blessed by the letters you've encouraged her with, for years to come! We're sad to see you go but I'm so excited by the fire God's placed in your heart for the child in your community and I pray God blesses your relationship with this individual. I have made Trixie available for another sponsor today and please know that your family is always welcome to sponsor again with us in the future if you ever feel led.

Hi Sadie! I understand if now's not a good time for you to sponsor a child and I wish you the best of luck as you continue college! I looked up your account and it seems that Iris is being sponsored under a different name. Is Sadie short for your full name? Would you please confirm the name that we should have on your account and at that time I can make her available for another sponsor. Thanks, Sadie!

Tyler, I'm so sorry that you're struggling :(. My heart goes out to your family and I'm praying that things would turn around quickly as I know this can be a stressful time, especially if it was unexpected. I have stopped your automatic donations today.

Before I completely cancel your sponsorship of Tina, did you know that we have options available for our sponsors that are experiencing short term financial difficulties? Would it help your family if we covered your support through the end of October? Beginning in November, we'd also be willing to reduce your rate to $19 for up to six months while you get back on your feet. If this would help you maintain the relationship you've been building with Tina over the last year and a half, we're happy to take care of this for you. Let me know and I'll update your account. If not, I understand and I'll make her available for another sponsor.

Jacob, I'm sorry to hear that you lost your job. I know how stressful it can be to not know when your next paycheck is coming, especially if you have a family. I will pray for you to find another job soon. If you think it might be a short-term situation, Compassion has some options to help people going through difficult times like this. They will usually cover your support for you for three months and then reduce your rate to $19 for six months to try to take some of the burden off. I think they try to do everything they can to keep the kids and sponsors together. What do you think? The ladies will be back on here tomorrow and if you'll post back here and let them know they will be able to help you with whatever you decide. I certainly understand if you aren't able to continue. Just remember though, regardless of that, that even when we get worried, God is not worried about anything. I would just encourage you to pray and seek God during this difficult time and trust Him and I will pray that God will bless you and provide for all your needs during this time and that the right job opportunity for you will become available at just the right time. Keep your head up.

Jacob, my heart goes out to you and I'm so sorry that you lost your job. Like Adam, we're praying for you also!

You've been with sweet Princess for seven months now and have been making such an impact in her life! Like Adam mentioned, we want to do everything we can to help you keep your relationship with your child if you think you might be getting a new job soon and want to try and continue supporting Princess. But you certainly know your situation better than we do and please know there's no pressure or obligation at all as we don't want this to burden you.

Right now, your support is current through the end of February. Compassion could bring your support current through the end of July so that you wouldn't have to worry about making up any of the back support and we could just start you fresh in August. Beginning in August, we could reduce your rate to $19 for up to six months while you get back on your feet. Let me know if either or both of these options would be of interest to you and I'm happy to take care of your account. If not, I can make your girl available for another sponsor today and still know, you've deeply blessed and impacted her life in a great way!

Jennifer, I'm sorry that the last two months have been hard on you :(. Life definitely throws us curve balls sometimes but we serve such a good God and He loves and cares deeply for you! I'm praying that your situation improves quickly. Michel is blessed by you and we'd be happy to help you continue your sponsorship. I updated your account today and Compassion will cover your support for two months as you requested so that your support will be current through the end of July. Let us know if things haven't changed by the end of the month and we're happy to work with you!

Susan/Emily,

Recently, the child I'd been sponsoring for the last six years moved out of the area in which Compassion works. I was asked if I'd like to sponsor another child, but I chose to decline. Yesterday, I noticed that I was assigned another child and my credit card was charged without my intended consent. Please cancel my sponsorship of TZ1520167 and deactivate my account with Compassion International. Thanks.

I have made Amani available for another sponsor and closed your account for now. We greatly appreciate all that you have done for Maliki over the last six years! Please know that difference in the love and support you have provided will stick with him for the rest of his life!

Hi Alicia! I am so sorry to hear that you are faced with such a difficult decision. I have been weighing on this decision for the past 7 months, and I have to look to cancel my sponsorship of Kambua (KE6330184) so that she can be available for another sponsor.  I also have been donating to HVC monthly as well.  My life and financial situation changed that many months ago, and although I've made the payment to Compassion, I've dipped well beyond my means to try to pay for everything else.  She's very sweet, and studies so hard in school.  I regret having to make the choice, but I have to.  Thank you.

Quan, we so appreciate what you have already done for Kambua Samuel over the last year and a half and the many children you have impacted through the Highly Vulnerable Children's fund. Thank you for your support! We understand that sometimes financial situations change. I have removed your commitment to the HVC fund and made Kambua Samuel available for another sponsor. Please know that Kambua Samuel will be taken care of and will remain in our program while we look for a new sponsor for him. May God bless you and I sincerely hope that things turn up for you soon.

Sheryl, I'm so sorry to hear that you are experiencing financial difficulties right now. My heart goes out to you and your family, as I know what a struggle that can be, and I sincerely hope that your situation improves quickly. Please know that I don't work for Compassion, but before canceling completely, I wanted to make sure that your were aware that Compassion has some options available to help sponsors who are going through short-term financial difficulties. They are willing to cover your sponsorship payments for three months and then reduce your support to $19 for six months to help take some of the burden off while you get back on your feet. I hope that you will prayerfully consider this option but I certainly understand I you still need to cancel. For security purposes Compassion will need confirmation from the primary sponsor named on the account to cancel so, if you still wish to cancel, please ask your husband to post back here to let the ladies at Compassion know so that they will be able to assist you.

I just said a prayer for you and your husband that God would bless your financial situation and meet all of your needs and provide peace and comfort for you and your family during this difficult time.

I currently sponsor two children and would like to keep the one I've been sponsoring the longest, but discontinue the most recent one, Gudiya Pushpalatha. Hi,
I signed up to sponsor child Athithya (IN7830536) today, however after some prayer I very much feel called to sponsor a different child and unfortunately cannot sponsor both at this time. Could you please cancel this sponsorship and stop my initial payment from going through/issue a refund? I feel terrible about asking that since I just sponsored her this morning, but I truly feel that God is calling me to sponsor another child. I called today but you were already closed, and my sponsor ID (3751837) was not even valid yet. Thank you!

Mindy, I'm saddened to hear that you need to discontinue your sponsorship of Kanchon but I understand and can help you. I have stopped your automatic withdrawals effective today. Before I completely cancel your account, I wanted to make sure you're aware of options we have for you if this is due to short term financial difficulties. You're generously giving extra each month towards our Highly Vulnerable Children's Fund. Would it help you if we removed this extra giving from your account so that your rate would be permanently reduced from $45 to just $38 each month? We would also be willing to cover your support for Kanchon for the next three months (August-October) and then reduce your rate temporarily to $19 for up to six months (November-April of 2016).

Please let me know if any or all of these options would help your family during this time. We value your relationship you've been building with your boy and if possible, want to help you continue your sponsorship of him. If this will not help you in your situation, let me know and I'll make him available for another sponsor.

I pray that things improve quickly for you and thank you for your continued love and support for Kanchon :).

Dan, I'm so very sorry for whatever circumstances that have arisen to cause you to need to discontinue supporting Joel. My heart goes out to you as it sounds like this was a difficult decision for you to make and I pray that everything is alright and God would encompass you with his steadfast peace.

Before I completely cancel your account, please forgive me as I don't know your current circumstances. However, we want to try and help you for a time if this is due to financial difficulties and you think it may be short term. Would it help if Compassion were to cover three months of your support and then reduce your rate temporarily to $19 per month for up to six months? If so, let me know and it would be our pleasure to offer this for you. If not, I understand and I'll make Joel available for another sponsor. He has been so blessed by you!
