Hi Bruce. Compassion is not able to send packages from us to our sponsored kids for a variety of reasons, but we are able to send our sponsored kids and their families monetary gifts. In order to send a monetary gift to your child for Christmas just log in to your "My Account" on Compassion's website and click the "Additional Giving" button in the left column. Select the type of gift that you would like to send (Child Gift or Family Gift) by selecting an amount in the appropriate drop-down box next to your child's name and proceed from there. When your child and their family receive this gift, a Compassion staff member will assist them in purchasing a gift for your child. If you would like to request that the funds be used in a specific way, there is an option to do that at the bottom of the checkout screen by clicking the link that says "I have additional instructions regarding this donation." The use of the gift is ultimately up to the family so if they have a pressing, immediate need they may use the gift to help meet that need that they have.

On the same page, you may notice, there is an option to "Give a Christmas Gift." Using this option donates to a fund that Compassion uses to give a Christmas gift to each child in their program each year. Your child will receive a gift at Christmas and they will be told that the gift is from you. Donating to this fund does not send the money directly to your child, but it helps cover the cost of the gifts that Compassion gives to our kids through this fund each year.

Please feel free to post back here if you have any further questions, and God bless you for your generosity and for being a blessing to children in poverty!

Hi George! Thank you so much for blessing your children in this very tangible way this Christmas! To give a gift online, you may log into your "My Account" on compassion.com. Once you are logged in, you may select "Additional Giving" and select the type of gift you would like to send to your kiddos. In the "Other Donations" drop down menu, you will see an option to give to the Christmas Gift Fund which Compassion uses to purchase a gift for every child in the program. You may also visit www.compassion.com/christmas to give to the Christmas Gift Fund. Your child will receive a gift from this fund, and they will be told that the gift is from their sponsor. Thank you for blessing your children! Please let us know if you have any further questions :).

Where can I locate a list of gifts that I can buy and send to my sponsored child?  Also, how do I send a large monetary gift that will go to my sponsored child's family for christmas?

Hi Angela! I appreciate your heart to bless your sponsored child and their family this Christmas! You may be aware that we have a Christmas catalog where you can purchase specific gifts such as chickens and goats. These gifts are based on already existing proposals and each gift will be given to the neediest families. This means that these gifts do not necessarily go to your sponsored child or their family. That said, we do have several other ways to send a gift:

  • Send a Christmas gift through the Christmas Gift Program. We combine all donations to the Christmas Gift Fund and distribute them equallyamong all of the children in our programs. This means that with your donation,we will purchase a gift for your child, gifts for children whose sponsors can'tgive, and children who aren't yet sponsored. This way, no child is left out. The amount for each child is decided based on how much has accumulated in theChristmas Fund at the end of October. In previous years, it has been $15 to $20per child. Your child will be told the gift is from you and will receive it ata special Christmas celebration!
  • Send a child or family gift. These gifts are sent specifically for your child and their family. You can send anywhere between $10 and $100 to your child and $25 to $1000 to the family each year. The local Compassion staff will meet with the familywhen the gift is delivered to help them decide how the money should be spentand guide them in using the money wisely. You will receive a thank you letter(approximately six months from when the gift was given) to let you know whatwas purchased. To send a gift, please log into your My Account and click on Additional Giving. Use the drop down menu for the appropriate gift to select the amount.
