I have sent several letters online to my sponsored child. Three of the letters say "view" beside them and one of the letters says "just received." I cannot view the one that says "just received" and it has been in this position for about a month now. I called Compassion and they said that they had only received two letters from me, not four. Is there any way to resubmit these letters online? And if so, why do the letters have different messages beside them? I know that there have been a few complications switching from hand written letters to digital. I just want to make sure that my child will get my letters that I am sending online. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Emily, I am so sorry for the confusion and incorrect information you received over the phone. According to our records, you have sent four letters so far to Aliphy. Three of these letters have been delivered. One of them is "received" and is waiting to be translated. This last letter is dated August 5. As we are currently working hard to get through the bottleneck of letters that happened as a result of issues in our new letter processing system, you may see your letters being "delivered" out of order. Please rest assured that your letters are going through and your recent letters will likely be delivered to your child around the same time.

I have been asking the same question about my letters that I started writing in March and I have yet to see anything come back or any showing that my sponsored little boy is getting anything from me. I have been told a couple times it takes a couple months but it has been 5. now I'm told that if I don't donate extra money enough then I won't even receive a picture of my little boy. so the money that I get every month is it enough for the company to show me any evidence or to even share a picture with him unless I give them more money and I guess my birthday donation to him wasn't enough to Warrant a picture they said I have to give more in order to see what they gave to him on behalf of my family.

Kimberly, you should have received a first letter by now the staff will look into this for you after the weekend. There is a major backup with letters right now, so it is very possible that your letter is in the process of coming to you just running behind.

Compassion updates photos ever 18-24 months and you will receive each updated photo. Most projects have over 200 children that they serve so updating photos more often than this would be a major challenge and quite time consuming. As far as gifts, the $60 gift amount is the amount that guarantees a photo. I have received photos for smaller gifts, but that is up to the project and not guaranteed. If they did a photo for every gift again that would take quite a bit of time away from project activities. Photos can be a uncomfortable experience for these kids too because many of them are only exposed to a camera at the project.

We have to be patient with the backlog of letters. They are working hard to fix the system and make correspondence quicker for everyone. Compassion is an amazing organization that does an outstanding job, especially when you consider the size of the organization. They deserve grace and Compassion from us while they work so hard to improve things for both our children and us. I have been sponsoring for 3 years and yes I have had some delays in letters and some lost in the mail, but I can assure you your child is very real. Thank you so much for blessing your child with your love, letters, and gifts! God bless!

Kimberly, I wasn't able to find your account with the email address you provided, but I think you might sponsor Abdramane in Burkina Faso? If so, I'd be happy to take a look at the letters and see if he has written any to you that are currently being processed! Like Heather mentioned, it is very possible that one is being processed as we speak :).

Also, did you receive the very first photo of him? You should have received a welcome packet with his photo inside a few weeks after you began the sponsorship. If you didn't, I'd be happy to reorder one for you. Again, Heather is correct here in her reply about the gifts. We aren't able to take a photo of every gift and send it to the sponsor because it would take away from the staff's ability to engage with the children in actual program activities. Compassion feels that gifts that are over a set amount should be acknowledged in a special way, which is why we include photos for every $60 gift that is given to the child or the child's family. Gifts of $20 are less are acknowledged in the child's next letter, and gifts between $21 and $59 are given a special thank you letter from the child to acknowledge the gift. No matter what amount the gift is, it always comes as a significant blessing to the child and the family, reminding them of God's faithful provision and the love their sponsor has for them.
