I'm wondering how Compassion decides which countries to work in. I am an American, but I spend two months every year in an impoverished village in Côte d'Ivoire. I have been a sponsor for years and have visited Compassion projects in India in the past, and each time in Côte d'Ivoire that I see kids running around unsupervised and unfed while their parents work on the farm, I can't help but think what good a Compassion project could do there. If there a way to start a Compassion partnership with schools and churches in Côte d'Ivoire, I would be happy to serve as a go-between or part-time in-country contact. I also have friends in the government there, and I am well acquainted with a number of school principles and church pastors who I think would be overjoyed at partnering with Compassion. I'm sure there is a complicated process for getting set up in a new country, but I'd like to know what that process involves!
