I've looked but can't seem to find the answer. Does it take as long as it would for the first letter to arrive (2 months)? Or just a few weeks? I sponsored a little girl from Sri Lanka for the first time yesterday and wondered if she would know by her birthday (January 11).

Thanks! I was surprised I couldn't find the answer anywhere. Maybe I didn't look hard enough? Anyway it would be lovely if she found out around her birthday or even Christmas! She was in the system for almost a year so I hope it will come as a nice surprise for her and her family.

I saw on another post that it can take upwards of a month. Not entirely sure though?

Hi Dara! Yes, it takes anywhere between a few weeks and a month for your child to be notified that they have been sponsored. :)

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled How long does it take for the child to find out they have been sponsored?.

How many days or hours go by before the child knows they now have a sponsor?

Hi Adriana! Someone else had your very same question and so I merged it into this conversation :). As Susan mentioned, a child knows that they have a new, loving sponsor, within one month of the sponsorship being set up. This is such an exciting and special moment for our staff to bring this news to the family!

Thank you! I bet it is! If only there was a way the sponsors could see the reactions of our sponsored child. I'm sure it's such a beautiful moment.
