On March 16, 2017, over the phone with Compassion, I used the money that was held in my account for my child in India towards two family gifts - one family gift for my child in Ecuador and one family gift for my child in El Salvador. It has been over 5 weeks since then, and this transaction still has not shown up on my account. Could you please send me an update on this? Thank you.

Hi Traci,

I apologize for the delay in processing your move money request. Regrettably, they are about six to eight weeks behind in processing these. With roughly 145,000 children departing from the program in India, (just in India), these have taken quite a bit of time to be processed. We do appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this backlog.

Thank you, Shannon. I just wanted to make sure everything was okay with those transactions. That makes sense that it is taking longer than the typical money request would. I appreciate your reply.

I am still waiting for the these two family gifts to show up on my account, and I haven't received any update on when these family gifts will be given to the families. It has been close to 7 months now. Could I have an update please?

Traci, I can confirm that both of these gifts were sent July 27. You can expect a thank you letter and photo from each child by the end of January. Again, we sincerely apologize for the incredible delay in transferring the money from your Indian child and sending these gifts.

Thank you, Susan. Can I find out what was purchased for the families? Or will that information be in the thank you letters?

Hi Traci! You can expect to receive a thank you letter that details what they purchased with your gifts :).

Hello, I would like another follow up on this. The family gift was approx. $205 for each family. I received thank you letters from my sponsored children, but the small items they purchased could not have added up to that much. One child used the money for a griddle and food, and the other child received a bike and sleeping suit. Also, the gifts did not show up on my year-end tax receipt. I am confused and concerned. I also did not receive photos of them with the gifts they received.

Hello Traci!

I did take a look into each letter the children wrote to you. It looks like Alexander bought a griddle, cereal, milk, sugar, cookies, juices, rice, sauces and oil. There is a picture when he mentioned this, and the griddle looks like a grill which does cost a bit of money. Did you see this picture he had within this letter? It was on the third page of the letter. If you would like, we are able to resend this to you so you may be able to view the photo. For Scarlthe Briggite, it looks like she purchased a bike and a sleeping suit. Bikes can cost a little bit more, depending on the quality of bike she purchased. I do not see a photo in this letter. I will be sending an inquiry over to the field office staff of Ecuador about this. Once we hear back from you, we will let you know as quickly as we can.

These family gifts will not appear on your tax statement because these were transferred funds from your child in India. You have already received tax credit for this contribution, therefore it will not appear on this tax statement. Please let us know if you have any further questions and we will be happy to assist you!

Thank you, Madison! I thought the letter was just 2 pages so no, I didn't see that picture in the letter with Alexander, but I see it now. I was picturing just a type of frying pan when it said "griddle" but I see it was much more than that. Thanks for clarifying this! I would love to get a picture of Scarlthe Briggite with her gift. Thank you.
