Hello. I have been sponsoring my child, Tariku Jamale, since last year. I received on letter from him, last year July, and one update from your center since then. Do I have anything coming from my child? I wrote to him twice and sent a birthday gift, money, and never heard if he received them. How often should I be hearing from him? Thank you. Barbara Edmiston

Hi Barbara! I'm another sponsor also, but I just want to thank you for faithfully supporting Tariku and blessing him through your encouraging letters, gifts, and sponsorship. I'm sorry that you haven't heard from him in so long. Please know that Tariku is receiving all of your letters and gifts, and I know that your sponsorship means the world to him and is having a profound and lasting impact on changing his story and releasing him from a life of poverty.

Normally you should be hearing from him twice a year at a minimum and up to six times, I believe, if you write to him as often. The ladies at Compassion who manage this forum will be back in the office on Monday and I'm sure they will be able to look into this for you.

I would encourage you to keep writing to Tariku while your waiting to hear from him because your sponsorship and your kind words really do make a difference. Compassion just put a letter writing system into place in April to reduce the time it takes for letters to travel back and forth to weeks instead of months, and my hope is that you will receive a letter from Tariku very soon and that you will get into a good rhythm of sending and receiving letters to be able to develop your relationship with him. God bless you and have a wonderful rest of your weekend!

Hi Barbara! I'm so sorry it's been a while since you've heard from your sweet boy! Thank you so very much for writing him a letter though, they mean so much to him as Adam mentioned.

You definitely should have received another letter at this point. It's possible he missed letter writing day due to if he was sick that day, visiting family, or another reason that has delayed his next letter getting to you in a timely manner. But I'm sending an inquiry to our office in Ethiopia this morning and asking them to check and ensure he's doing alright, still attending the center, and that he write you a new letter. Please know that it can take up to 45 days to receive a response from our field office but I'm hoping we'll receive a quick response and we'll contact you when we hear back from them :). Thank you so much for your patience and love for him!
