How was our yearly "family gift" to our sponsor child used by the family?

I have just been wondering if there is ever a way to know how my sponsor child's family used the "family gift" we gave. We gave the max for the year and I am just genuinely eager to know if they got it, and if it helped. I have read in the compassion magazine how other families used their family gift, and because we care deeply about the well being of our sponsor child I naturally am curious to know/?

Hi Jessica,

I understand your excitement!  I sent family gifts to some of my children in December, and am eagerly waiting to find out what they did with them myself.

Since you sent the maximum, you should receive a photo of your child and the items his/her family was able to purchase within about 6 months.  It will probably come with one of his/her regular letters, and the letter should explain what was purchased as well.  The hard part is waiting the 6 months.  I've given family or child gifts before, and it usually has taken the full 6 months to hear back.  I'm hoping that maybe the new letter writing system might speed that part up as well though.

Glenda, I just checked your account and a letter was received in our office from Angele for you recently! You should be getting this very soon. I'm hopeful that this letter is the thank you letter you've been waiting for that will acknowledge the gift you sent. Thank you for blessing her in such a tangible way! If this letter doesn't mention your gift, email a copy of it to socialmedia@compassion.com and we'll send an inquiry requesting a thank you letter from her :).

Hi Jessica! Ditto everything Jamie said above. When I got my letter last year 6 months later, it made sense why it took so long...his family purchased a new roof which would take time to build, and the letter included a picture of his home with the new roof. This letter was definitely worth the wait, hearing how thankful and exicited his family was. When you get your letter, please post what your child bought. I love hearing these stories!

Hi Jessica! Thank you so much for giving such a generous gift to Adithyan and his family. I cannot tell you how much that is going to be a blessing to all of them! Because we processed it at the end of February and it takes between two and three months for gifts to reach your child, he will probably receive the gift this month or in May. Once he receives it and the project staff help the family decide how to use the funds, Adithyan will sit down and write you a thank you letter. Like others have mentioned, in that letter will be a photo of what the family was able to purchase! I can't wait for you to see it :)! It does usually take six months from the time you sent the donation for you to receive the thank you letter and photo. If you don't receive it by August 22, please let us know and we can send an inquiry for you.
