Good morning! It's my birthday so I thought what better way to celebrate than to bless a child with letters :). Can I be on the list for 3 girls from HO, age 11 or under. Also can you confirm what other requests I have out? I think I'm on the list for replacements for 2 kids that I lost? Thanks so much!

Hilary, happy birthday!!! It's times like this that I wish our forum had emoticons so I could send you a virtual birthday cake and present ;). I hope you're having a wonderful day and know how treasured and special you are in God's eyes, and ours!

As requested, I have added you to the waiting list for three girls. And our records show that you have just one other request on the list for a child with no preferences.

Thank you so much, Emily! Two weeks ago, my Asha from IN was dropped and I think you added me to the list for a girl from HO age 11 or under. If that request isn't on there can you add it- so that would make 4 from HO, 11 or under? Last week, Rose Ann from PH left the program and the person that called left a message about adding me back to the list so that is probably my no preference request- can you change that to a girl? Thank you so much! I SO appreciate it :).

Hilary, I changed the request on the list to a girl :). And I actually double checked our list again and I do see the other child from HO that I added you for the other week! That request is number 25 on the list, your one that I just updated to be a girl is number 98, and your other three are 135-137.

Ceri, I'm sorry that you saw Issac suddenly disappear from your account before we have had a chance to contact you :(. We just learned that Issac's sponsor has ended the sponsorship. This means that you will not be able to continue writing your boy. I know this can be hard and I pray you know how much of a difference the letters you were able to send, did make! I placed him on hold for you for the next two weeks if you want to assume the financial commitment and continue the correspondence. There's certainly no obligation so please let us know if we may assign and send information to you about a new child in need of a correspondent if you're unable to support Issac.

Hi Emily,
Thanks for the information.  It's good to hear that Issac is still in the programme :)  As I haven't received any letters from Issac yet and therefore haven't bulit up a relationship with him, please could you find another sponsor for him and assign another correspondent child to me.  Thank you.
And thanks for all that you do - you're doing a great job here!
Ceri.

Hello!  About a month ago, I requested that our family be put on the list as correspondents (sponsor #2880948).  I was quickly assigned two boys (we've already sent them letters and plan to send out another this week), but I haven't seen/heard anything about the girl yet.  I was a bit specific about her age & location so I understand if it is taking a little while to fulfill that request.  If it helps, please feel free to expand the age range from 8-11 to 7-12 instead.  So I should now have a request for a girl from Bolivia, Brazil or Mexico, age 7-12.
Also, we would like to add 3 more correspondent children to our account (so we'd have 6 total correspondent children).  Please add us on the list for the following (all age 7-12): a girl from Philippines, a girl from either Dom. Republic or Haiti, and either a boy or girl from either Ethiopia, Kenya or Uganda.
Also, can you please let me know where I am on the list for these requests?  Thank you!

Hi Cindy! I am sorry for the wait on this last girl you had requested previously. None the less, I have expanded your original request to be for a girl from Bolivia, Brazil or Mexico who is age 7-12 years old. This request is on the first page of our list at about number five. We currently have 176 requests and your most recent three requests are at the end.

Hello Susan and Emily, I would like to be put on the waiting list for a girl from Thailand. Also can you put me on the list for a child from CO429.  I know this one could take a long time or may not even happen, but I thought it would not hurt to at least be on the list.  Finally, I think I am already on the list for an older child, right? If not, please put that on the list too. Thank you both!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Emily or Susan, the sponsor of one of my correspondent children from BD stoped sponsoring  him yesterday.  I ask the rep on the  phone to put me back on the list for a child from anywhere.  Can you change that to a child from Asia or South America.  Also that means I now have a total of 3 request on the waiting list, right? Thank you so much.

Just noticed that another child - Issaree (TH643 0436) has disappeared from my account :(
Has her sponsor dropped her or started to write to her, or is she no longer in the programme?  I guess it must be hard for financial sponsors who don't write to their children / build up a relationship with them, to keep sponsoring.
If I can no longer write to Issaree, please could I have another child to write too - no preferences -  thank you!
Also, do you know if the two parcels I sent turned up?  (please see my post from 3 weeks ago on p8 of this forum) Thank you!

Hi Ceri!

I'm so very sorry that you lost Issaree :(. Regrettably, the financial sponsor has chosen to discontinue sponsorship and thus you will no longer be able to be in communication with this child. You're certainly welcome to write a final letter and we'll be sure to get that out to Issaree! I have also added you back to the waiting list today for another child. Thank you so much for your continued passion for these children and for your prayers for each of them.

I believe we received all of your parcels and I'm sorry we never got back to you after you other post. I'm not sure how we missed it:(. We received some of February 17, some on March 2nd, and one letter package for Marieta on May 12th :).

Hi Emily,
Thank you so much.  I will definitely write a final letter to Issac and Issaree.  I'll put letters in the post as I can no longer write to them online.
Great news that the parcels arrived.  Now I can send some more!
Thank you again,
Ceri.

Hi Emily :). Hope you are having a good day! I was wondering if I am still on the list for a replacement child after Rose in the PH moved away. I was put on for a girl, but then some people transferred kids to me, and I wasn't sure if that cancelled it out. If I'm not on the list can I be put on for a girl 8 or under from Honduras? Thanks!

I logged into my Compassion account today and I have a new face! It's Javier from Bolivia. I wasn't waiting on any more correspondence kids (except for the LDP that Emily just put me down for yesterday) so I'm wondering where he came from! Don't get me wrong - I'm HAPPY to keep him and write to him but just thought I'd better let you guys know he randomly popped up. Did I have an outstanding request I don't remember? Or maybe was he another transfer from Kelly's lot? Just curious!

Wow this same kind of thing happened to me but I requested the child I just was not told ahead of time that I was recieving a child so soon. just wait a few cays and you will probably recieve a packet form him, but of corse if you don't want to write to them you can call them and they can fix this for you.

Hi Kristen! I apologize for the confusion. Your request for an LDP student was seen on our list of normal children requests and it was confused for a desire to correspond with any child. I have ensured that you're on the waiting list for an LDP student but please know that unfortunately the wait time to receive a correspondent child in LDP is a few years long. The last person to request a child has been waiting since 2012 so it's pretty slim on the chances of receiving one. You're welcome to keep your new kiddo as he's already on your account and thank you so much for your grace in our error and for welcoming him into your correspondent family so willingly!

Thanks for the explanation, Emily. After being distracted by life for a few years I'm finally back to being able to devote my Compassion kids some more generous attention and, if someone didn't stop me, I'd request ALL OF THE CHILDREN. So it's okay if you accidentally give me correspondence kids every now and then ;-) Javier's a cutie and I'm happy to get to know him. And I'm content to wait for an LDP student as long as God wants!

Hi Mary! You're already such a blessing to your kiddo in Rwanda and we certainly understand your passion for children but if you're unable to sponsor another child right now. I've added you to the waiting list today! The only requirement to be a correspondent is that you write the child at least three times per year which I know you won't have a problem with ;). We can't give a timeframe as to when you'll receive your child because we must wait for a child to become available for correspondence but we'll assign a kiddo to you at the next available opportunity!

Hi! May I be added to the list for a girl (anywhere from 7-12yrs old) from El Salvador? My ID is 3751837. If the list is quite long please let me know and I could change or broaden my country choice, but El Salvador has been on my heart so I'd like to try there first.

So excited...Thanks!

Hi Sarah! Thanks for your interest in becoming a correspondent sponsor! I have added you to the waiting list today for a girl from El Salvador. Currently our waiting list has 178 requests on it. The only requirement to being a correspondent sponsor is that you write to your kiddo at least three times per year. But you're welcome (and we encourage you) to write as often as you'd like! :)

What is involved? I sponsor children on another organization, and I love corresponding. Would the children think I am their sponsor? Just things I would need to know. I would like to be a correspondent for two girls. I don't know what countries are available, but I speak English and Spanish. I sponsor girls in Guatemala, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Colombia, and Zambia... Other locations would be cool! Preferably ones where the child can communicate in English or Spanish for a better connection. :) All the best.

Hi E. Smart! I think it's great that you want to make a difference in the life of a child in need! No, you do not have to be religious or a Christian to correspond with a child through Compassion. However, please note that we are a Christian organization and we administer our program through local Christian churches. You may hear your child mention church, bible versus, and Christian subjects. Some people find this bothersome, but as long as you're fine with it, we definitely don't have a problem with you writing to a child. Your child would view you as their sponsor and all letters are translated in country and so you can write your letters in English and we will translate it into your child's language and dialect. The same will happen in your child's letter to you. Compassion works in 26 countries around the world. You can see a full list of the countries we work in, here. Because you don't yet have an account with us, we will need to create one for you. Please email me at socialmedia@compassion.com with your full name, phone number, mailing address, and your specific request for your two girls. At that time, I'll place you on the waiting list for a child. :)

Hello!  Although I've been reminded lately that a "watched pot never boils", I'm still checking my account regularly to see if there are any new additions.  So I'm just wondering where I'm at on the waiting list for my previous requests?
I should have the following four requests on my account that we're still waiting for (all age 7-12):
a girl from Bolivia, Brazil or Mexico;
a girl from Philippines;
a girl from either Dom. Republic or Haiti;
and either a boy or girl from Ethiopia, Kenya or Uganda.

Also, I sent a letter & a few extra items to my current kids a couple weeks ago.  I'm assuming since I didn't hear from Compassion that they went through okay.  If not, please let me know.  Thanks!!!

As soon as a child becomes available for this program, we will send you their information booklet just like we did with your financial sponsorship. This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled My husband wants a child to correspond with.

My husband and I sponsor a 15 year old in Rwanda and I recently got a 4 yr old in El Salvador to correspond with. My husband wants a child of his own to correspond with. Honestly my hubby is weak on his reading and writing skills so having his own child to correspond with will be a win for him and the child.
He'd like a 10-12 yr old from Africa if possible. Please put Bob Marshman on your list. Thank you.

Mary, I think it's such a wonderful idea for Bob to become a correspondent to a child and I just know that they would be so blessed by each other! As requested, I have created an account for your husband and have added him to our correspondent waiting list for a 12 year old kiddo from Africa. Once a child becomes available, we'll assign it to his account and mail you additional information :).
