It takes 2-3 months for your letter to get to your child and 2-3 months for your child's reply to get to you. Your online letter will be printed off in Colorado, mailed to the country office and translated and then sent along to your child's project.

I sent my sponsored child birthday money and a letter on 9 -20 -12 and i just received a letter from him saying that he got it on 10 - 19 - 12 , so about a 1 month time lapse there , and i received the letter on 1-12-13 confirming this , hope this helps you. jeff

Just to clarify, it depends upon how often the child's project gets the translated letters from the country office too. Your child's project may be close by and get them frequently whereas other projects are more remote, which means it takes longer for the letters to get there.
