Also the earthquake off the border of Mexico last night.  Down south near the border with Guatemala.  For now, I'm just going with "No news is good news" -- it probably will take about a week to figure out what is going on and then filter to the sponsors affected.

Hello Sarah, thank you for your patience, understanding and for the love that you have for the children affected by the earthquake. We do know this earthquake was very powerful and has affected both Mexico and Guatemala. We are asking for prayer at this time for the children and the staff in these countries. We are trying to get information to our sponsors as quickly as possible. However, we only have basic information at this time. We know that there has been an impact and our field staff is assessing damages. We will notify you if your children have been impacted as soon as we have that information available.

Hi, everyone, I am a sponsor too but in the case of natural disasters, no news is good news as far as your Compassion kiddos are concerned. It will take a while for information to be received and out to the sponsors of affected children. I have several kiddos that live on Hispaniola so I am in wait mode too. God bless!

Hi Heather, thank you for your response and for your understanding. We will be in touch as quickly as possible if we receive news that any of your children have been affected. In the meantime, prayers are much appreciated. It is heartbreaking and we appreciate your love and concern.

Hello Tam, I appreciate your concern for your children in Haiti. If we receive news that your children have been affected, we will notify you. The timeline can vary, we know that you love and care for your children and we try to get the information to you as quickly as possible. In cases of natural disaster, sometimes people scatter for safety reasons. In those cases, it may take a little time to get word. When we have the information though, we will let you know. Like Heather says, no news is good news. However, we understand that you're concerned and it is completely fine for you reach out to us to check periodically. Right now, we are encouraging prayer. Please pray for the Lord's protection over these children, their families, the field staff and their families. Thank you for your understanding and for your prayers.

Debra, I completely understand how you feel as I have kiddos in both of those areas as well. We don't yet have information regarding individual families or children who were impacted by either disaster. As soon as we do, we will be contacting the sponsors whose children have been affected by the earthquake and hurricane. If you don't hear from us, that does mean that neither of your kiddos were affected and are doing well. I am praying that is the case for them!

Victoria, in the case of natural disasters, no news is indeed good news. If you hear nothing, your girl is ok.

Hi Victoria! We have been receiving updated information on children who were affected by the hurricane, but as I see right now Jasmine is not on that list. If we receive information that does indicate she was impacted by Irma, we will contact you as soon as the information is received by our office. Keep praying for her! I know it's difficult to watch two hurricanes pass over her country not knowing how they are affecting her.
