I know you have been getting tons of questions regarding Haitian children, but we are desperate to know if our sponsored child is safe. Is there any way to get more information?

Hi everyone! Thank you all so much for the love and concern you have for your kiddos. What a blessing you all are! What Heather said above is exactly right. We will contact all sponsors whose children were affected by the hurricane. We don't yet have information on specific children that have been affected by the hurricane in Haiti, but our staff is already on the ground checking on each child individually to assess their needs and provide support. Thank you so much for your continued prayers! I would also like to ask you all for prayers for our field staff as well. Sometimes the staff members themselves are in need. While our staff members are trying to address the immediate needs of our registered children, they also must take care of their own families and homes. Thank you again!

Will compassion help the staff is they have been directly affected as well or can compassion only help the children?

Yes, Stephanie, Compassion will also do their best to help the staff members who were affected by the hurricane as well :). Please keep them in prayer too!

Our sponsor child is in Port-au-Prince. The news reports for her area do not look positive by any means. Her dad was a farm worker (which means he wont have work for a very long time) and her parents have 6 kids total I believe and our girl is the only one sponsored in her family. She just had a bday in Aug and just received a mattress and calf, her whole family would benefit. Their community was still rebuilding.... now its all taken away. On top of a very small amount of possessions used for survival , many have lost loved ones that cannot be replaced. I cannot imagine what the people are going through. Some have such a strong faith in Jesus and some do not. My heart breaks for them!!! Then to think of the sickness and disease soon to follow. Its hard for most to understand even myself, but I'm trying. I have a small sense of the devastation and it kills me to think of it. God will hear their/our prayers, he will be there, he will help and protect. I imagine the crime will now go up as well. And all of us will act when we are told its time and can. I have very limited resources. I am saving it for my sponsor child and her family. Don't know if thats right or not but I feel God wants it reserved for them. I want them to know how much I am thinking of them, love them and that God is there and they are not forgotten. I think her families faith is strong, but I don't know. God has appointed each of us to be Haiti's prayer warriors. I wish I could go and be there right now, by their side and walk with them through this but that wouldn't help anything. All the things we take for granted are now gone... like clean water.
