I am not sure what you are asking. There are certain rules. If you have a new financially sponsored child, you should see an introduction letter from the child within 4 months. If you do not, you can ask our lovely social media ladies to send an inquiry and find out where the introduction letter is (And it can take 6-8 weeks after that to receive it -- the only child I had to send an inquiry on an introduction letter (so far) the inquiry led to finding out their parent had pulled them out of Compassion :( So I never got a single letter from them.)  After that, you should get a response letter to a letter you send -- but at the most 6 months (So if you have not  heard from a child and it is 6 months since their previous letter, then you can send an inquiry.)  Letters from you will prompt response letters from the children, at the most every other month. So if you write frequently, you might get a "response" letter that covers multiple letters you sent (And some children are better than others in responding to letters. I am still fairly new, having just started sponsoring last November--and that first child was the one who left Compassion :( , and so have not seen a lot of response letters yet)  Some people talk about "Expecting a letter" because its been 2 months or so since they heard from the child and they have been sending regular letters.  But also, evidently, some people get a bar on their Write Letters page saying they have a new letter even before they get an email -- I have not seen such a bar appear.  IF you have a letter on the online system that says "Processing" or "In translation" or something and it stays that way for a month, it might be stuck and you can get the social media ladies to give it a kick and see if it dislodges and/or if they can access the letter for you (if it is incoming).  I have not had this happen yet.

Debra, if you are on Facebook, you should request to be part of the Compassion Correspondents group! It was a great encouragement to me when my sponsorship of my first child ended so abruptly. I'm not sure I'd have continued on if I had not already sponsored other children, started writing my first Correspondent, and had the encouragement of the group that it was worth doing even though I never even heard from that first girl.

Debra, you can see if you have letters coming your way by logging into your online account and clicking on "Write My Child" on the left side of the screen. Then click on "My Letters" and "Conversations" under your child's photo and name. You should see all of the letters between you and your child there. If there are grey bars under the Conversations that say from your child, that's the fastest way to tell if there are letters on their way to you :). It is probably too soon for you to have a letter show up in the system as being processed, but keep an eye out! You should receive one within the next few months! I'm so excited for you to begin the journey of sponsorship:). Welcome to the Compassion family!

This green bar is what it looks like when you have a new letter.  (I have blurred her name for my child's privacy. I'll refer to children by first name -- but not all their information except when absolutely necessary for our social ladies to find a particular child -- and even then the child # is the easiest way for them.)
