What happens when I forget to send my child a birthday card? Should I still send one even though I'm really late?

What you choose to send to your child is really up to you.  That said, I am sure that your child would be delighted to receive a birthday card from you, regardless of when he/she gets it.  If it were me, I wouldn't worry about it arriving late; your card will show your child that you are thinking of and care about him/her.

I agree with Jamie! Your child won't mind a late "happy birthday" card...they will just be very happy to know that you are thinking of them. :)

Something I've done after missing a birthday (or after sponsoring close enough to the child's birthday that there wasn't time for it to arrive before the child's special day) is send a letter written ON the birthday. The letter shows up late, but I imagine they can enjoy knowing someone thousands of miles away thinks of them on their birthday, and I hope that sticks with them in future birthdays, too (while I try to get the card there in a more timely manner...)
