So far my experience with sponsoring a child has been eeh. I'm glad to sponsor one, and I know it will be so rewarding once I hear from him, but I haven't gotten any pictures at all and I haven't received any letters from him and I haven't gotten any updates about him since September . I've been sponsoring him since July. He is only 4 years old, so maybe that would explain why I haven't gotten letters, but I would just like to know reasoning or explanations as to why it could be taking so long. I don't want to sound like I'm just complaining, I like to consider myself understanding so that's why I would like some explanations. Thank you in advance for the help!

We sponsor a 5 year old and are going through the same thing.  We have been sponsoring since June and have written many times, however have received nothing.

We have not received anything about our child or that his family received our family donation. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Tamara! It looks like you are fairly new to sponsorship with your sweet boy, Risto! Thank you so much for making the decision to impact a child's life :). It does take up to four months to receive the first letter from your child, which means you should receive a letter from Risto by February. I do know that the country office in Indonesia has already printed off the stationary for him to write his first letter on, so it is in the works already! It also takes up to six months to receive the thank you letter and photo (since one of your gifts was over $60) back regarding the gifts you sent. Expect to receive those thank you letters around May 2017. I can't wait for you to develop a relationship with Risto! Please let us know if you have any further questions!

Alex and Michelle, I am so sorry that both of you have not heard much on your sponsored children. It does typically take about four months to receive the first letter and a year or two to build a relationship with a child. You should be getting letters within the first four months and at least every six months after that though. I would be happy to research each of your situations and do everything I can to help you both. Regrettably could not find either of your accounts from your names and email addresses. Please post your children's ID numbers or email us at socialmedia@compassion.com for further assistance.
