I keep getting this warning about sending a birthday gift to my child but I already sent a $100 birthday gift a month or two ago. I want to make sure he receives a gift with my money.

The reminder about the upcoming birthday won't go away until his birthday is past. It has nothing to do with sending a gift. Just a reminder that the birthday is coming.

When I click that message though, it asks me if I want to send a gift now. Is it that just standard and has nothing to do with me already having sent a gift?

That's just standard.  When you log in to your Compassion account through a browser, there is a similar message in your "Control Panel" that says "Give a special birthday gift and show your child how much you care. Just click on the name(s) below to give a gift today! " -- and it is date dependent. It does not go away even after you have sent a gift.  Just like the reminder to send a Christmas gift is there even if you've already sent one.  My best guess is that it is database driven and having it search for if this year's gift was given yet would just make for a more complicated query and slow things down.  (Plus still would not pick up situations where a family gift is given instead of a birthday gift, etc).  It also is a constant reminder to write a birthday message even after the gift has been given (If you choose to send one)

Hello Megan! Thank you Sarah for your help, as always. I do see that you sent your birthday gift back in August. Thank you so much for your generous gift for Innocent on his birthday! I know he will be very grateful to receive it. The message should go away after his birthday passes. I apologize for the confusion.
