I need to cancel my sponsorship. My last child dropped out of the program and instead of looking for a new child, I decided because of lack of funds at the moment, I would wait until I had the money to support another child. For some reason, I just got a letter saying I was sponsoring another child. I sent no acception of this child and heard no announcement of my payments until now, nearly a month and half later. I am not exactly happy about all of this and need to know how to drop this sponsorship.

Jessi, I currently have the exact same problem.  I cancelled my sponsorship, only to be automatically enrolled for a new child.  I hope this is simply a glitch in the system and not a sly way of manipulating people into giving.  I've had only good experiences with Compassion to this point, so I'm assuming the best.

The very same thing happened to me! I was sent info for new child they said they "hoped" I would be able to sponsor but at this time I can not but they started my sponsorship anyway & it now says I am $114 delinquent? How do I get this resolved & cancel?

Jessi and Ben, I am so sorry to hear that you were automatically given another child when you had not asked for one. Please know that it was not our intention to make you feel pressured at all. At the time that your child left Compassion's program, you should have received a letter in the mail explaining that we had a child on reserve for your consideration. The letter explains that you are under no obligation to sponsor this new child, but that we would need to hear from you if you decided not to continue sponsorship. It is our heart to get children sponsored, but we in no way want to offend anyone in doing so. I am deeply sorry any confusion or miscommunication on our part, and I am happy to make the child on your account available for sponsorship again. Ben, please rest assured that I have removed the child from your account per your request. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, so we may help you. If in the future you would like to sponsor another child, we would be blessed to partner with you :). 

Jessi, regrettably, I was not able to locate your account. Will you please provide your sponsor number or the ID of the child on your account?

I am so sorry to hear that you are in need of canceling your sponsorship. Is there anything that Compassion can do to help you keep your relationship with your kiddo? We would be happy to cover a few months of sponsorship if your request is due to financial concern.
