I have yet to receive a letter from my child and it has been at least 6 months since I have heard from her. I'm beginning to think that my time and money could be spent somewhere better than here. I would like to cancel my sponsor payments.

Samantha, you may not be aware but Compassion has experienced quite a few complications with their new letter system. These issues have caused a slow down in letters. Normally you can expect your first letter within 4 months of sponsorship and at least a letter twice yearly, more often if you write your child. The Compassion staff can look into your situation and send an inquiry if necessary to check on your child. They can only look into a problem if they are made aware of it. It is impossible for them to monitor how often each child writes letters and send inquiries without the help of us sponsors. I pray you will give them a chance to check on your child before you cancel your sponsorship. God bless.

Tiffani, that is definitely not normal. The ladies who monitor the forum will look into that for you. We sponsor several children and we had an issue before the new system went into place with one of our kiddos letters. Every letter from that child got lost between CO and my home for a year. It was very frustrating, but in the end it worked out. The staff will check into your lack of letters for you. God bless!

I just checked my acount and I have recieved a letter on November 22nd and it shows I recieved one in January of 2016 however when I called this summer there was no mention of this letter and there is no preview. I had also sent her and her family a gift last winter and never recieved any notice they recieved it or what they got and it was above the amount. That they say they do that....

I really love the sweet girl but had stopped payments until compassion got back to me about my concerns and they never personally called me other then the generic email.

My letter from November seems generic as well and none of the questions I asked were answered . It makes me question if it's really her.

I'm just having a hard time trusting that my money is going to an actual person. I would be heartbroken to discover I had been tricked

Tiffani, I sincerely apologize for the heartache and concern that you've experienced over the past year in your partnership with Compassion. It does truly sound like several mistakes have been made in how we have handled your concerns about your sponsorship and I hope to help rectify those today. We have actually heard back from the country office in Togo regarding the gifts you sent at the end of last year, which I am going to email to you immediately. There are two letters and a photo of Florence with her sweet family for you to enjoy. I'm also sending you a copy of the letter we processed on November 22 in case you need that one too. From her responses, it sounds like you have lavished your love all over this sweet girl! Though this letter was placed on your account in November, she actually wrote it in August. It's possible that she hadn't received your most recently written letter before she wrote this one and didn't know you had asked her questions. Letters have been taking about two to three months to be processed and delivered to children and their sponsors.

Please, please let me know if you have further concerns that I can address for you! I know it can be so difficult to trust that an organization is doing what it says it is. I would encourage you to look at our Financial Integrity page on our website as well as Charity Navigator. I was also just in Bolivia getting to meet my sponsored girl who I have had for almost seven years and I can tell you that Florence is a very real child who is receiving your letters. The first thing my girl did after we met was sit down to show me all of the letters and activities I have ever sent to her! Her project director came and was able to tell me more about her center and show me her record file as well. Florence is no doubt treasuring every single item you've sent to her as well and thanking God that she brought such a wise, caring woman into her life :)!

Tiffani, I can assure you that you have not been tricked. The letter system was implemented in April and there has been some problems with letters not showing on accounts for a while. I correspond with many other children in addition to my sponsored children and found that some of my earlier letters from this year are not on my account and some are. As far as not answering questions and a generic letter, there are some things you need to take into consideration. One, is the age of your girl. Two, writing letters is somewhat of a foreign concept to these kiddos and it can be a struggle them for a while. The new letter system pulls questions out so hopefully that will help our kiddos answer our questions. In my experience this is the case. My kiddos are answering more and more of my questions. I have found it takes at least a year to really start developing a relationship with my kiddos. Some go deeper than others, depends on the child and how much the want to open up to you. Many have been sponsored and dropped more than once so they may be more hesitant to open up. The bugs in the new writing system has slowed things down, but I am starting to see letters flowing regularly.

Please remember, Compassion is a huge organization so you may have to call back to check on things. The employees who monitor this forum have always gotten back with me on any inquiry that they have sent me. Hope this helps. God bless!

Samantha, I am so sorry that it has been over six months since you last heard from your sweet girl, Naydeline. Like Heather mentioned, we have had many complications with the new letter system that was put in place back in April, one being that the processing time has been taking longer for some sponsors than it had in the past. I do want to encourage you that we are working to fix these issues as quickly as we can! I also see that we do have two letters in the system from Naydeline that we are working on processing for you as we speak. You should see these letters on your account soon! I would encourage you to hold on a little longer before canceling. Naydeline is being blessed significantly through your sponsorship and your personal letters, and I think you will be able to see that when these letters are placed on your account.  I know it hasn't been an easy six months waiting to hear from her, and for that I sincerely apologize! If you still desire to cancel, please let me know though and I will place her back up for sponsorship.
