I received a STRANGE CALL ON BEHALF OF COMPASSION today asking me to participate in a FOCUS GROUP for $$, but I said donate the $$ back to my sponsored family but said she could not do that. Was this company really representing Compassion? She asked my religion twice and when I did not change my answer she hung up. Here is my full experience... Did anyone else get this call to partake in a this FOCUS GROUP???
Today,
January 20, 2020, I received a call about possibly taking part in a two hour event where I would give input about Compassion. The company that called me said they were called 2020 and they had a place in Arsley Township area in a near Charlotte. They asked a few questions like my children’s genders, ages, my ethnicity, my Income, my job, and then my religion. As soon as I chose a religion, Catholic, they said “thank you goodbye” and hung up in a big hurry and did not even let me say anything. Is this a hoax?
This is the following voice message they left on my phone:

“Hey kara this is Kim with 2020 research I a.m. calling you on behalf of the Compassion compassion has hired us to reach out to their current sponsors Compassion is trying to get together some focus groups I would be _ two hour focus group they would pay you a $100 MasterCard gift card for your time and for your opinions Compassion is just trying to make sure that they're doing the ____ and this is one of the ways I go about doing that um is trying to do focus group stop with your current sponsors if this is something that you'd be interested in doing for ___ for Compassion please give me a call back 704-494-7881 thanks...”

Very strange. I did not get that call (yet anyway) but I'm not around Charlotte. So maybe they are looking for locals? It does seem strange

Hi Kara! Thank you so much for reaching out and posing this question. I do not think that this call is from Compassion International. I do not see any comments on your account with us implying that we called you, and we don't have any (704) numbers associated with our ministry. There are several things about this situation that seem illegitimate, and I would strongly advise you not call that number back. Thank you very much again for asking us about this.
