I sponsor my child in Africa and I am wondering is there any opportunities to serve in Africa on the ground with the children?

  • I am feeling happy about serving but sad I don't know how. It breaks my heart to know about the conditions my child lives in.

Hello, Suresh! Thank you so much for reaching out to us, and for your heart for the children in need in Africa. However, Compassion is not a missionary-sending organization. Our work with children is done through the local Evangelical church in the child's community. Our field staff are mainly professionals and volunteers working within the area where the Child Development Centers are located, and who are all natives to the areas in which they work. If you would be interested in visiting your child and seeing the work that Compassion does on the ground there, that is something you can certainly do, but we wouldn't be able to hire you to work in Africa if you live outside of that country. I am so sorry for any disappointment this may cause, but I do hope you understand! We are very grateful for your heart to serve wherever you are able. :)
