Yes you should get a sponsor number and an email very shortly after you sponsor a child. I did take a look and it looks like the card that you tried to use did have an authorization failure. Our processing team will be handling your account at this time, and will place your child on hold on your account until we receive the first contribution for your child. Once they do this, you will probably get an email letting you know what your sponsor number is or asking for the first contribution, since we did not receive it yet.
