Hi, I just got a first letter from my sponsor child and was very excited, but now I'm starting to question Compassion. I got two different letters saying it's a "first" letter from your child, with 2 different letter under my child's name. I can't figure out which one is the correct one that my sponsor child "actually" wrote, and I'm even starting to question if both of the letter was not written by my child. I'm worried if these letters are written from someone else, and not actually by her.

Hello Deborah!

It is common for a child to write a "first letter" while they are waiting for a sponsor.  This letter is stored in the country office (which processes all the letters) until the child is sponsored.  When she is, the letter is sent to the sponsor.  The child may write another first letter when she finds out that she has been sponsored.  In the time between, some things may have changed, such as her favorite game or color.

If you child is young, someone may help her write a letter.  But I can guarantee you, she was involved in the process and she is very excited to get to know you!
