Why have I never got as much as a written response for my child about the hundred dollar gift I gave for birthday and the $60 family gift? I never got anything mentioned about Christmas either so I'm kind of wondering if you guys are even giving the money that I spend every month to the children I support. Also I was told that if you send a gift over $60 or something like that that you will receive a picture of your child with what they purchased. Well my child's picture hasn't even been updated in over 2 years now nor have I ever gotten another picture of my child. I don't think I'm going to keep doing the sponsorship when I don't even know where my money is going.

Hi Nicole. I've been a sponsor for 3 years. I have always received a thank you in a letter along with a photo. It can take a while, and some centers are faster than others. Unfortunately, I too am waiting on thank you's for the gifts I gave the end of last year; the new letter writing system seems to have slowed things up. Did you receive letters from your child last year?

I really enjoy sponsoring my children, and I hope that if your lack of hearing anything is recent that you will hang in there. I am frustrated by the delay in letters this year, but I will not give up for my kids' sakes. I hope that things will get back to normal soon.

You are an important part of your child's life, and I am sure they look forward to hearing from you!

Nicole, first off, I'm deeply sorry that you're beginning to question our ministries integrity and I'm hoping to clarify your concerns. I'm pray we can gain back your trust because you're truly making an incredible life changing impact in the life of your child.

Regrettably, I could not locate your account under your name or email address and so it's difficult to give you specific timeline's or dates for your letters and gifts without seeing them. However, I can explain how our system works and hopefully clarify your concerns.

When you send a monetary gift or letter to your child, it takes 2-3 months to reach them and 2-3 months to receive a response. This means when you send a gift or letter, it can take up to six months to hear back regarding that gift. You absolutely have a right to know how your kind gifts are used to bless your children and if it has been over six months since you've heard from your child, or received a thank you letter for a gift you've sent, we're happy to inquire with our field staff to ensure your child received the gift and to get a thank you letter written and sent to you from your child. If you send a gift of $60 or more, you'll also receive a photo of the gift. Now, children are not required to write thank you letters for Christmas gifts but all other gifts, you'll receive a thank you letter for. You can also ask your child in a letter about their Christmas but many children do this on their own because it's so exciting for them and they love to share this time with you :). I want to encourage you that I just received a Christmas letter late last month from my child, so you still might receive one soon! As Beth mentioned, we are transitioning into a new system right now and although it's not up to the speed it's been designed for yet as we're still working through bugs the new system has, and going through training for staff; once we've fully transitioned, letters will be processed and delivered in weeks rather than months! I look forward to you seeing the positive impact that this new system will have on your relationship with your child! I know that change is hard and we are so grateful for your patience during this season.

Please rest assured that your support does reach us and is used to benefit your sweet kiddo. Please also know that your child does receive your letters. Letters are so important to these children and we understand the value of letters and how important they also are to you as a sponsor. This is why we have been making changes to our letter writing process to make it quicker and more efficient.

In regards to photos, your child's photo is updated every 2 years or 18-26 months. If you ever go over 26 months without receiving a new photo of your kiddo, please let us know because we want to make sure you receive this!

If you still have concerns or believe it's been over six months since you've sent your gifts or over 2 years since you've received an updated photo, please reply with your sponsor number or your child's ID number and we're happy to look into this for you :).

Again, I want to encourage you that your precious child is real and you're so very important to your child! We pray for sponsors that truly want to impact a child's life and that will treasure and cherish them. I can tell you have a beautiful heart and really want to make an impact but are just struggling with your experience thus far. We value you and the investment you're making. You're sacrificing your time and resources and we want your experience with your child to be a positive one and for you to see the difference that God is making in your child through you. Thank you for being patient with us and please know that we're here to help you and answer any other questions that you have.

We want you to be confident in the support you're sending also. If you'd like, I encourage you to visit Charity Navigator.
