I am a new sponsor to a beautiful little girl in Rwanda, Lea (RW3890136). And my daughter is very excited to be writing a sweet little girl in Togo, Vero (TG2050094). Since Vero already has I sponsor I wanted to see if her sponsor does any extra giving, like for birthdays or family gifts. Thanks!

Hi Sally! It looks like Vero is still pretty young and she was just sponsored for the first time in January. Regrettably, there is no way to tell whether her financial sponsor will send extra gifts or not.

May I check periodically and see if they are? Also wondered since her sponsorship is so new are you certain they don't want to write to her? Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

Sally, I apologize as I read the year that the financial sponsor started incorrectly. So sorry about that! Vero was registered in 2012 and the financial sponsor began sponsoring her in January 2013. However, the financial sponsor has recently indicated that they cannot write to her.

No problem. Thanks Susan. Are you allowed to tell me if the sponsor sends her financial gifts? I understand if you are not allowed to disclose that info. But if the financial sponsor does not, our family would like to.

Good morning Sally! You're so thoughtful for wanting to bless Vero in this way. Regrettably, we can't anticipate if in the future her sponsor will send her gifts but thus far, Vero has not received extra monetary gifts (birthday, general, or family) from her financial sponsor.

It's that time for me to start summing up my birthday gifts for June and I need a bit of a refresher on which of my June baby correspondents are receiving financial gifts and which aren't. The ones I need to know are Agresia, Elizabth, Emily (one of the Kenyan 1000), and Khayla. The rest are either mine or new enough that I have recent info on their gift history. Thanks!

Thanks for being so thoughtful, Lindsay! I know this will mean a lot to your kiddos. Alright here they are:

Since they started our program, Agresia and Khayla have both received one gift and that was last year but were just a general child gift. Neither have received a birthday gift in the past.

Elizabeth and Emily have never received a gift.

Hooray for birthday's! :)

Thanks, Emily! I'm pretty sure those 2 gifts were from me so I'll go ahead and keep them on my list.

Felix has never received a gift before. He's been in our program since 2012 and his first letter was from you. He's blessed by you!

Hi Ladies,

So I have a couple questions. Can you please tell me what physical letters I sent in May? Something isnt adding up on my end.

Also, do I have any letters on the way? The last one I got was from Esther.

And lastly, any chance there is a reply on Emebet?

Thank you,
Audrey

I just got the inquiry back for Obed, they attached a copy of his letter... that's is so awesome! I'm happy to know he is well and has faith in God. I can't believe that only took a week! Still waiting on Emebet. ... every day I grow more concerned about her.

What happens if the 45 days pass and yall haven't heard back?

Audrey, no worries about the double posts. You must have REALLY wanted to ask us that question! I'm just teasing. :) Since we sent the inquiry for Emebet on May 15,  the 45 days would be June 22. If we do not hear back from Ethiopia by that date, we will send a reminder and give them an additional 15 days to send an urgent response our way. We will let you know just as soon as we hear back which I imagine will be in the next week or so. :)

Lol, yeah I kinda did! But it was an honest accident. And ok.... the wait is killing me, and having heard back about Obed so fast, makes the wait harder. I knew it was getting close to 45 days, so I just wanted to know what happened if we didn't hear from them...

Okay, Sorry to post again. But I have a few inquiries that need to be made, unless I have letters on the way from them.

These Kiddo's have been 6 months or Longer without a letter:
Obed GH3240050
Francilia HA2268111
Amina KE4240429
Escarle DR4660037
Peter KE2300355

Then These kids are nearing 6 months if my brain is working properly :-)
Darmendra IN9680090
Desire BF4610047
Jennylyn PH4060202
Chhilai EI7180227
Yokolamo UG8350157
Shema EI4440051

Thank you for looking into this for me ladies. I really appreciate it. I am so sorry for all the questions and concerns etc.

I am definitely concerned about the kids that have been a solid 6 months, I am hoping that I will hear from them soon.

God Bless,
Audrey

Audrey, you currently have a letter on the way from Escarle that you can be looking forward to :). Our records indicate that you began corresponding with Peter, Amina, and Francilia in January. Because of this, we do ask that you wait until the beginning of July before we send an inquiry as a letter from these kiddos might be in process that we just don't see in our system yet. I hope you hear from them soon!

I am sending an inquiry to our office in Ghana to request that a letter be sent to you from Obed as it has been over six months and you should have received a letter from him by now. We will ensure he's doing alright and ask that he write to you :). Thank you for your concern for him!

You began corresponding with Jennylyn on February 5th, Darmendra on February 10th, Desire on February 16th, Chhilai on February 27th, Yokolamu on February 13th, and Shema on February 3rd. If you do not receive letters from these children by August, we can certainly send an inquiry but I pray you receive your first letters from each of them in the next couple of months :).

Hi Stephanie! I'm happy to give you this information on your kiddos :).

Aleminesh received one gift in 2005, 2008, two in 2013, and two in 2014. He's been in our program since October of 2003 and has had two sponsors.

Gabriella (Sherly) received one gift in 2008, 2011, two in 2012 and 2013, and one in 2014. She was registered with us in January of 2007 and has had four sponsors.

Shadrack received one gift this year thus far. He was registered with us in May of 2010 and has just had one sponsor.

Let me know if I can help further :).

Can you tell me if any of my correspondence children receive gifts from their financial sponsors? I completely forgot that was a possibility. Also - can I get sponsorship history for Kevin and Sasahu, like how long in the program, how many sponsors, any letters, any gifts, that kind of stuff? Thanks so much!!

Has anyone received ANY acknowledgement of letters or monetary gifts to their sponsored child in Ecuador within the last 10 months?

Hi Steve, welcome to the Compassion support community. We are here to serve you as an honored member of the Compassion family and, while I don't work for Compassion, I just wanted to ask and see if you'd been waiting a while to hear from your sponsored child. I know that thank you letters for gifts usually take around 6 months since it takes 2-3 months for the gift to reach the child and then 2-3 months for their letter to travel back but I think 10 months is longer than normal to go without hearing from your child. One of the ladies at Compassion who monitor these forums might be able to look into the situation for you if that is the case.

Thanks for your response.  I was really hoping that someone who sponsored a child in Ecuador would confirm that they have heard from their child.  I do understand it's not typical to send letters and gifts and not hear anything.  I believe the folks in Colorado Springs are checking into it, as I've contacted them.  If my sponsored child has received the 7 letters, 3 cards, and 3 gifts then she knows someone cares.  I just want to know that she is receiving what I send.  Besides the form that was filled out prior to receiving a sponsor I have received only a doctor visit form.

Steve, it's my pleasure. I have the utmost respect and faith and confidence in Compassion and I can assure you that your child is receiving every letter, card, and gift that you send and that she knows how much you care about her. In a letter we just received from one of our sponsored children she shared with us that she could see the kindness of God through our sponsorship of her. I was so deeply humbled by that and I know that your child feels the same way about you. We don't sponsor any children in Ecuador, but we do sponsor a child in Colombia. We received our first letter from her, besides the letter that was filled out prior to sponsorship, almost 7 months to the day after we sent our first letter. I believe the first letters usually take the longest and then you should start hearing from your child more frequently. I know how excited you are and how hard it is to wait for that letter, but it is so worth the wait. I would just encourage you to keep pouring love and encouragement into your child's life knowing that you are having a huge impact on her future and that through your letters and gifts your child is able to see the love of Christ in her life in a tangible way. I'm glad to hear that Compassion is checking on it for you and I hope you hear from her very soon.

Thank you so much for your follow-up!!  It’s difficult to pray for my sponsored children every day and then not feel the need to make sure I’m personally doing everything I can for them.  Maybe I should pray for me – for patience.

I understand completely, Steve, and I know exactly how you feel. It sounds to me like you're a wonderful sponsor. I feel like I've grown and learned so much through this process of child sponsorship and patience and perseverance are definitely things I'm still learning. :) Sometimes I feel like God is using this experience to change my life as much as He is changing the lives of our sponsored children.
