I'm writing my child a birthday letter right now and just realized that she might like to know these facts about me. Does this break any rules of protocol?

Hello Elizabeth and Debra! This is a wonderful question! You are more than welcome to share your birthday and age with your children! I think many children are curious about this and would love to be able to wish you a happy birthday as well! :)

That is funny. I have been sponsoring since 1998 and have never told a sponsored child my birthday. All of my kids are interested in how we celebrate holidays vs. how they celebrate theirs. So I think they would like to hear about how you celebrate, birthday cake, etc., minus the part about the gifts.
