May I please find out if the financial sponsor of my correspondent Konchada Ganesh has started sending monetary gifts? I received a "thank you" for a monetary gift I don't recall sending. I know previously he had not received a financial gift since 2012. Thanks!

Hi Lindsay! Konchada did actually receive a gift for his birthday from his financial sponsor in 2015, so the letter you received was most likely the thank you letter for that gift. He hasn't been sent any other gifts since then.

Thanks, Sarah! I sent him a financial gift in 2015 for his birthday, too, so hopefully it was a great year for him gift-wise! I'll be sending him one this year, too, just in case.

Could I find out which of my correspondents get gifts (for birthday) from their financial sponsors, if any?
Thanks!

Antonio, and Godfrey have both received gifts from their financial sponsors occasionally. Yvonne has received an annual gift every year, and Bonkoungou will receive an annual birthday gift because he is sponsored through the endowment fund now. Mayur, Abdallah, Kithikii, Lojingu, Endashaw, Kelvin, and Alex have never received a gift.

Wha? Compassion has an endowment find for sponsoring kids? I'm so confused. How do I know if any of my correspondents are sponsored this way?

Rachel, yes, Compassion does have programs called living sponsorships and endowment funds that sponsors will use to support their child for the entire time he or she is in the program. They are essentially the same thing, but a living sponsorship is transformed into an endowment fund when the sponsor passes away. When the child is sponsored through the endowment fund, the funds that were given by the sponsor are used for including monthly sponsorship costs, birthday, and Christmas gifts for the child. You can learn more about it here. Edilson and Abraham are both sponsored through these programs. The rest of your children are sponsored by individuals.

That's awesome! I had no idea this existed. I am always amazed by the caring, thoughtful financial sponsors who allow me and so many others to write to their children as correspondents. But to go so far as to give to an endowment so the children are provided for even after the sponsor's death? Wow! That is beautiful. What great love!

We're sponsors #3775278. Could you tell us whether any of our four correspondent children are sponsored through endowments and whether they receive birthday and/or family gifts from their sponsors? We are also considering making a contribution to Melat's Compassion Center. Will it be used for The Center's programming or aid to the community?

Hi Linda! None of your children are sponsored through endowment funds. Marlon and Sumon have never received gifts from their financial sponsors, but, Widerson and Vinthresson receive annual birthday gifts from theirs. Yes, if you send a project gift to Melat's center, it will be used specifically to assist the center with any needs they might have :). I'm sure any gift you send to the center will be a huge blessing to them!
