Can a child expire from the website? We found a child a few days ago that we were thinking about sponsoring and now the site says "Child No Longer Available." At the time he had been waiting 356 days. His name is Baraka from Kenya (Birthday 5/25/2007). Just wanted to make sure that he was not still waiting. If he hasn't been sponsored we would like to sponsor him.

Usually, if the child isn't available it means they were sponsored. Howevver, check back with the website and confirm that. Sometimes a child isn't available because someone else looked at the photo. To ensure that 2 people don't sponsor the same child, when the picture is clicked on, the child is removed from the site for a period of time (I don't remember how long) so while the person is thinking about it, or filling out the form, no one else can sponsor the child. God bless!

I would phone or email if I were you. Quite often when a child is removed, it's because 1) someone else clicked on him trying to see a bigger picture etc or 2) He/She has been on the site for awhile and they are going to try another method to get them sponsored (such as taking their packet to events or giving it to an advocate or putting it on another country's website. If the child is still available for sponsorship, they will be able to tell you
