I'm creating little cards with one of my favorite bible verses on it for all of my sponsor kids and I'm trying to put it in their own language based on some bible's in other languages. I realize it may not be accurate and that the translators may have to change something but I'd still like to try just to show that I care to try, if you know what I mean. One of my little boys goes to HOPE development centre and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what language they speak there. I haven't received a letter yet so in my sure. I assume either Hindi or English since those are the national languages but I'm not sure which.

Thanks!

Actually, there are dozens of different languages spoken in India. If you send it in Hindi, it definitely indicates that you care enough to try :-) My guess is based upon having multiple a few Indian friends although some of them don't speak any Hindi and are 'just' bilingual with English and their native tongue.

Hi Lindsee! That is so sweet of you to want to make a card for your sponsored child with special bible verses on it! How thoughtful of you! Regrettably, Becky is right that there are hundreds of languages spoken in India. In Raja's area alone, they speak Marati, Hindi, Konkani, and Telugu. Since Hindi is one of the languages spoken in this area, we may be able to make sure the cards are translated correctly.
