We are so excited to have recently sponsored a child into our family, Jefferson, Child ID: EC053500050. I noticed that under his profile information it states that his last correspondence was on 07/31/2017. Could you please explain what this means? Is this the date he entered the program or did Jefferson have a previous sponsor and if so Is there information available on his previous sponsorship. For example, did he receive letters regularly? Is his current photo and or any previous photos available? Thank you for the clarification and again we are very excited to be part of a beautiful blessing to Jefferson and his family.

I'm not a Compassion rep, just a fellow sponsor, so of course I can't send you all the info you're asking about. But I have asked those same questions, so the answers I have received may help you, too, at least until Compassion can respond :)

I think children are newly registered through age nine, so if Jefferson is much older than that, he likely has had at least one previous sponsor. Some basic info is available, such as how long he has been in the program and maybe whether he has received letters previously. Based on having encountered similar things on my own account, I think the "last correspondence" indicates that Jefferson either sent or received a letter on July 31, but I am less confident of myself in answering this one. Compassion can send you his photo in JPG format, and if he has been in the program for a couple of years already, they can send one or two previous photos, too. (I love those!) Photos are usually updated every two years, give or take.

Of note, it takes time to develop relationship through letters, especially as it takes time simply to translate/process the letters, but it is worthwhile. And you can start writing letters pretty much immediately, which is a great start.

Q&A aside, I am excited with you!

Thank you so much for the information. You’ve already provided a lot more then I knew.
Jefferson is 8 so I’m not sure exactly how long he has been in the program.
We are thrilled, especially my son as he picked Jefferson out as his new “friend” and “brother”, with the opportunity to develop a relationship for many years to come with him.
Thank you again for your insight! Happy New Year x

Hi RoxyJ1! The Last Correspondence Date refers to any letter being sent back and forth. Long story short, Jeffereson did have a previous sponsor and July 31 was the date of the last letter he sent to this previous sponsor. I'm sending you an email with the photos and additional information that you requested. Thank you so much for your partnership!
