My account states my sponsored child sent me a letter on June 12th but I am unable to open it. Perhaps it’s being mailed to me? This is my first experience ve with compassion. What is he expected time to allow for a letter?

There's a wide range of how long it takes for a letter to be translated. When the letter is fully translated (A process which includes quality assurance), then it will be fully visible on your account and you will be able to open it.  When it first shows up on the account seems to be when the letter is scanned into the system. After it is fully translated, if you have your account set up to send you a paper printout of the letter, they will send it to you in the mail as well as emailing you to let you know you have a new letter.  This is what the email looks like letting you know it is ready to be read.

Hi! Not staff, just a sponsor here. The ladies can double check on why the x is, but typically it means you have a letter in translation and/or quality control on its way to you! Translation can take up to 3 months I think, although generally it takes closer to 3-5 weeks to be processed. Some countries and offices are faster than others — for example, letters to and from my kids in Burkina Faso and Ecuador tend to go through in just a day or two, while letters to my sponsor child in a very remote part of Thailand tend to take 2-3 weeks to go through.
