Hi. I started sponsoring a child last October and I know it can take a while to get a letter back from my child but it has already been six months. I did receive one letter but it was from a different child to their sponsor, I returned it. Now it is my child's birthday and I received the birthday card to write him a letter but it has another sponsor's name and number with their child's name and number on it. Am I not getting his letters because of a mix-up in Compassion's mail room? Can you tell if he has sent me a letter? His number is CO5600396. Thank you for your help.

If it's been 6 months, then they can check for you.
Are you in the USA?
The reason I'm asking is that I live in Canada and I have some kids through Compassion Canada and some through Compassion USA.  I get those birthday cards only with my Canadian account kids and not the USA ones.
If you are not with Compassion USA, you'll have to ask elsewhere as the staff here can only look into it with kids sponsored through the USA site (also known as Compassion International)  but not kids on the Compassion Canada or Compassion UK, Australia, German etc sites.
I would say it sounds like your address is attached to another sponsors account and vice versa somehow since this has happened twice!

(PS: If it's Compassion USA you want they'll be able to help you here, if it's Compassion Canada you want, you can email info@compassion.ca ) If it's somewhere else, click on the country name on this map and it'll take you to their site where you can find the contact information: http://www.compassion.com/where-we-work.htm

Thank you Teresa. I am in the USA and sponsor through Compassion International. I agree that it may be my address is attached to another persons account or maybe just part of the account because the cover letter that I received with the birthday card has the correct names and numbers but the ones on the card are not correct.

Jody, I am so sorry that the beginning of your sponsorship has been so rough due to receiving other sponsor's mail and nothing from your own kiddo! We did process a letter from Ismael at the very end of December, which you should have received by now. I am going to send an inquiry to the Colombia office to see if we can get a copy of it for you. If no copy is available, I'll request that he write you a new one. This other sponsor's mail, has it been the same person twice? Can you tell me what the child's number on the birthday card is? I'm wondering if your mailing addresses are close or if the children attend the same center or something.

Thanks for looking into this for me Sarah. I do not recall the name on the letter I received but the name and number on the card is Abdoul Kader Kelem BF2140116.

Jody, I am so sorry for the delay! I was just checking through open conversations and saw that you had commented. I think it would be best if you would email us at socialmedia@compassion.com or visit your sponsorship account to verify or update your mailing address. I am wondering if it is the address because both your current address and the address for this other sponsor is in North Dakota. Letters are processed by a machine so I have seen sometimes they might get placed in the wrong envelope. It is strange that it happened twice though so I want to be sure. Also, you may be able to view letters from your child on your account in the Write My Child section. Let me know if you cannot see these letters. It looks like you should have one or two letters in there.

Susan, I did finally get the letter from my child. I checked my address right away and it was correct so it was just a mix up when it was sent to me. Thank you for explaining how the letters are processed and thank you for following up with me.
