Does anyone understand the letter writing statuses and/or timeline? I sent a letter on December 3 to my sponsored child and it says it’s still in translation. I hope it’s not stuck!! I wrote her the first day I sponsored her because I couldn’t wait to get to know her!

My account also shows a letter back from my sponsored child that was submitted yesterday (in her country) and is complete today, but I can’t see her letter. What are the rest of the statuses the letter will go through and how long should I expect to wait?

I have letters from sponsored children "in process" since Dec 14 and Dec 27 that have not shown up on my account ready to read yet.  Next Monday, if the Dec 14 one has not gone through, I will ask the social media ladies to look into it.  Since the Dec 3rd date is a month old at this point, you can ask them to look into that one and see what is holding it up -- the rule of thumb is one month for "Stuck letters" -- sometimes they can bump them loose and sometimes the process is just still running and being slower than usual.

OTOH I had another letter (from a sponsored child) appear on my account yesterday and it was available to read today!  So some letters definitely go through faster than others.

Hey Amy! I am so sorry for the confusion with these letters being in translation still! Sarah is correct that sometimes the process timing can be slower than others. With holidays over the last three months, the processing has been slower for many sponsors as the translators and teams that work on letters have been working diligently to keep up with the influx of letters still coming their way. That's a wonderful thing; it just means that processing takes a little longer. The one that came through this morning from her should be available for you to read soon. It still has a few small steps to go through before it will be placed on your account. I know you have to be excited and ready to read what she has to say!
