Hello,
we started sponsoring Koseyian in March but still have yet to receive our first letter from her. I understand it can take up to six months but was concerned because we already received a letter from her pastor.
Additionally I was disappointed to see that the pastors's original letter was not enclosed with the translated one.
I also noticed when my mother, who also sponsors, but a girl from India, receives letters they are never written in a native tongue. Only the translated messages are sent. Can I ask why this is?
I absolutely love Compassion but have these concerns,
Jacqueline

Hi Jacqueline!

Actually, the first letter should come within four months. It looks like we sent you Koseyian's first letter on May 5. Did you receive this letter from Koseyian?

We have the Pastor Letters ready to send out to new sponsors within their fifth week of sponsorship so sometimes they arrive before the first letter from the child. We want to honor our amazing pastors by making their letters look nice and on Compassion letterhead. Also, we send out these letters to all of the sponsors at that center so if we were to send out the original letter from the pastor, it would be a copy of the Pastor's letter and not the actual original. Because of this, the decision was made to only send out the translation on nice paper. I'll definitely pass along this feedback though!

Some of our children are able to write in English (many of our children in India actually). In these cases, there is no need for a translation. We always attach the translation to the original, unless of course, there is no translation. If she would like to make sure though, she is always welcome to send us a copy of one of her letters and we'd be happy to check into it.

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
