My child is no longer part of the Compassion program however I would like to write her and maybe even keep in touch and was wondering how I could go about that?

Hi Karina! We do allow sponsors to write one last letter to their child. Please make sure that you write the words "Final Letter" on the top of the stationary and add your sponsor number and her child ID, ET065200069, to the letter below that as well. You can mail that physical letter to our office at:

Hi Karina! You most certainly may send both! However, we must be able to send them together as one "Final Letter". So, please ensure that you are sending no more than 6 sheets of paper, and please write "Final Letter" at the top of each individual page. Also, please send them all in one envelope :). This will allow our mail room staff to count it all as one letter :). Thank you!!

I just received a "Final Letter" from my child, and replied to her; however, I did not indicate my response as a final letter. Will it still be delivered to my child? Also, from your response, Christina Wilson, it seems that sponsors might not have a way to keep in touch with the child after sending a Final Letter. Is this correct? If we are interested in keeping in touch, though, beyond the term of sponsorship (and a Final Letter), how would you recommend doing that? Thanks so much.

Doro, your letter should still go through fine even without "Final Letter" at the top. This simply helps our mail room staff when processing the letter. Yes, it is correct that the final letter will be the last communication that Compassion will be able to facilitate for you. If you are interested in keeping in touch outside of Compassion, we can help set this up for you but it is discouraged because there are risks for you as s sponsor. Basically, we have had some wonderful experiences with supporters continuing to communicate with their children and we have also had some really awful ones too. We ask that you educate yourself of the risks, prayerfully make a decision, and sign our waiver of liability first. If you are interested in moving forward with that, please click here.

Thank you, Susan, for the explanation. My account also shows that I still have the option of sending a Christmas gift. Is this accurate?

Hi Doro! Yes, you absolutely still have the option to send a Christmas gift :). We do need to receive Christmas donations by October 31st in order to send them on to the children in time for their Christmas celebrations at their projects.
